(( Outskirts of the Bantlox Colony - Laoi III ))
During the planning of the evacuation a sudden, and unwelcome, complication had come upon them. Several missing children, and in the cave system no less.
The worried parents of the children had led them to a small grassy knoll and a small, concealed opening. Just about large enough for adults humanoids, more than accessible for children.
Vailani: We're going to have to go in there :: to Bim Pend :: I'll leave it to you to begin coordinating the evacuation while we retrieve the children. What are their names?
Female Colonist: Iruh, Ahran and Nimo. P-Please, we have to get them out of there! I, I can’t evacuate without Iruh! I won’t!
Sadar: Administrator, please, do as Chief Vailani asked of you. We’ll get the children out. ::to the parents:: Are all of them able of hearing? Do they have any medical conditions?
Male Colonist: N-No, they’re all in perfect health. Please, let me come with you! Nimo’s my daughter!
Zoyara notes the Galadoran flash with what she assumed was alarm at the suggestion.
Gnai: You… you can’t. Time may be of the essence in finding the children, and more bodies in tight spaces will just increase the time spent.
Zoyara moved towards the man, she placed her tricorder back into its holster.
Vailani: All Starfleet Officers are trained in basic search and rescue. We have the skills and resources to locate your daughter :: to the others :: and the other children. But we can't do that, as Lieutenant Gnai indicated, if there are too many people. It will make it more dangerous for the children.
Sadar: Besides, you need to keep yourselves safe. They will all be very scared when they come back out, and will need familiar faces. ::to the Administrator:: Please, get the evacuation started as soon as possible.
Bim Pend: ... Of course… And thank you.
Gnai: Yes, please do. ::handing PADD to Bim Pend before he left with the other colonists:: This has identified a suitable muster point for the evacuees, which can also serve as an Emergency Operations station when the children have been returned.
Zoyara nodded towards Gnai, grateful for the expedient way in which they located the correct area. Especially given the distraction.
Sadar: ::to Vailani and Gnai:: We won’t be able to fit Lieutenant Gnai’s suit through that, but we don’t have time to search for an alternate entrance. What are our options?
Gnai: This could always ride around on your back again.
Vailani: What??
Zoyara tried to imagine them dismantling the mech suit and strapping the tank to their back and figured that that would be unsafe. If they were to drop the tank and it smashed in the cave, they'd have a grave situation on their hands.
One of them was enough.
Sadar: Response
Thankfully Gila was more familiar with Gnai’s unique needs than she was.
Gnai: ::bobbing in its tank:: That could work, but this isn’t certain…
As they spoke, there was a sudden loud cracking sound that emanated from the cave. More rocks fell from the roof of the entrance, and further clattering echoed down from inside, ranging from small clinks of pebbles to deeper thuds that could imply boulders.
Vailani: Oh that didn't sound so good.
Gnai: What was that??
Sadar: Response
Zoyara removed her tricorder again and began to scan the ground beneath them again. She noticed that Gnai had done the same, so she directed her scans in another area and sent a link request so that they could share their data, which would give them a more full idea of the situation.
She moved closer to Gnai and Gila, so that no one else could hear her.
Vailani: It looks like there was a collapse at the entrance.
Sadar/Gnai: Response
Faintly her tricorder began to sound out. The Bajoran moved quickly to follow the trace which got stronger the closer to the coastline they went.
Vailani: I'm getting movement?
Sadar/Gnai: Response
Vailani: You think there's an entrance down by the coast? Maybe the children have moved?
