((Kerrit Dromos - City One - Rylor))

Vailani: I had no idea you were such good friends with Lt. Bancroft?

Of course her interest was born entirely of politeness, determined as she was to remain friendless. Imril had shown themselves to be of the more tolerable of her Artemis crewmates. Which made it all the more surprising that they'd be friends with Bancroft. Who, by all accounts, was considered a not very serious person.

Which was disappointing to have heard. Zoyara was no stranger to his mother's reputation, having met her at several esteemed functions as a teenager. She found her to be incredibly inspiring and commanding. To know that one of her offspring has been reduced to the joke character was disheartening. It was one of the reasons that she'd avoided the doctor since he had arrived.

Now she was watching a public ridicule of the man. If Margot Bancroft was anything like her father, she'd learn of this event before the day has ended …

oO what were you thinking? oO

She ruled that he must be more dimwitted than she had initially thought. She almost felt sorry for Imril, aligning themself with someone on a downward trajectory. They had such promise.

Imril: Response

K'Wara: He’s a good sort. Good at jokes, awful at roasting mush. Also plays a good game of Galaxopoly.

She didn't have the heart to tell the ever effervescent, and clearly naive Cygnian, that all of that was the very serious problem with Doctor Bancroft. She sighed and then her eyes widened.

The sight before her, was almost straight out of a cartoon. A large, purple furred feline had entered the race track and had become quite enamored by Bancroft.

Vailani: What is that?

The rarest of rare things happened at the exact point the cat bounded across Bancroft's path and appeared to race alongside him. Vailani Zoyara smiled.

Several officers made note of this for the record on their personal logs later that evening. Significant an event as it was.

K’Wara: A hologram? Sabotage? Or a wayward pet, enticed by the excitement?

As Tamio stood to get a better look, Zoyara joined them. Several officers had taken out holo-imagers and had begun to capture the moment. In full holographic imagery. Her smile only grew wider, in spite of her sympathy for Dr. Margot Bancroft's great shame.

A great shame that was currently being outmaneovered by an oversized purple kitten. Her smile was so wide that she was showing both rows of teeth.

Imril: Response

Vailani: Lt. Imril? How big is that tank exactly?

oO cause Bancroft is going to need some more juice to catch Munro Oo

Storm:  Find your new stride.

K’Wara: A ‘stride’ isn’t going to help much with this situation.

As Tamio returned their attention to the track, Zoyara allowed herself a small laugh. Which, of course broke the spell of unbridled relaxation she had been lulled into by the event.

Immediately her face straightened, and the scowl returned. Which was directed at the back of Tamio’s colourful head.

K’Wara: Roy just can’t help but have running buddies.

Vailani: He still has a chance to pull it back. Let's not write him off just yet.

oO and give his mother some sliver of hope Oo

The sabrecat kept its stride beside Roy, they seemed to be in some kind of negotiation with each other.

Imril: Response

K’Wara: ::grins:: It must be his social nature. But it’s certainly not helping the fact that Ava’s got a massive lead right now.

Storm: Match her pace—you’ve got the longer stride!

Zoyara gave Storm a confused glance.

Vailani: He still has a few more kilometres. Munro came out strong to set an ambitious pace. That still has its risks for her.

Imril: Response

Storm: How much of a chance do you think he’s really got?

Vailani: I think he needs a blessing from the Prophets themselves at this point.

Zoyara wasn't the best at picking up on interpersonal relationships, including her own. Having formed several accidental romances with other officers. Which, of course, ended in disaster each time. Mostly her own fault. She was enough of a woman to admit that.

Imril: Response

K’Wara: That big of a lead this early on isn’t encouraging, at least. ::looks around:: I hope he gains a bit though. There’s nothing as exciting as a close race with a photo finish at the end.

Vailani: I like a sure thing :: satisfied smugness :: This race is going exactly how I expected. Except the enormous purple cat. I didn't expect that.

Imril/Storm: Response

K’Wara: Yeah... ::chuckles:: I wonder where that thing came from?

The sabrecat ran towards a group of officers, to cause more mayhem and earn itself some scritches. One ensign was knocked off their feet.

Vailani: Must be a friendly native species of some kind? Or someone's very excitable pet?

Imril/Storm/K'Wara: Response

Vailani: It's an unusual place. I can see why they chose to build a colony here. I might even use it for my next holo-programme.

Imril/Storm/K'Wara: Response

She waved her hand.

Vailani: Oh it's nothing you would be interested in. Just a series of holo-walks. Boring :: points towards the track :: Look! What's he doing now?

Imril/Storm/K'Wara: Response
