((Rakantha Province, Bajor))
Renirs: Not the prettiest gardens they’ve got there, huh?
Jozial would have had harder time imagining an uglier place than much of District 7. You couldn’t see it from her parents’ mansion, of course, but whenever she left home for anywhere, she would inevitably see the unmaintained housing complexes, soulless urban sprawl and endless slums. As disgusting and disheartening everything were back there, it had a charm, an invitation to adventure she had eagerly accepted. Jozial kinda liked disgusting and disheartening things.
And then there was whatever they had behind their shuttle windows right now. It didn’t have charm, nor did it appear appealing for an adventurer. No, it was just sad.
Savel: Unfortunately not.
Chevalier: What can one living being inflict upon another? It's horrible to see…
The shuttle descended steadily to the ground, spreading some dust around as it finally hit the ground. Out of the shuttle after a long flight from the Old Cardi Station, Jozial stretched her back, exaggerating the motion almost comically. She wasn’t sure if anyone would notice and understand her point, but she enjoyed protesting, even if it just for her own amusement.
Satisfied with her petty show of rebelliousness, Jozial walked to the curious-looking person that had been assigned as her partner for the field trip. The jelly in the belly of the bot was the officer itself, she assumed, while the rest was for it to move around. That was kinda cool. Jozial would have loved to have a mecha suit as well – a giant robotic armour that shook the ground as it walked and shot disruptor beams and breathed fire and…
Renirs: So, hi, yeah. ::pause:: That’s a pretty awesome suit. Does it have any guns?
The Pod Glob didn’t have a face as far as Jozial could recognize one, but judging by the few seconds it took to respond, it considered what to say. Wonder if it didn’t want to tell too much of its tactical abilities to a potential enemy. That was, of course, needless. Jozial had only assaulted a single digit number of officers over the past few years.
Gnai: Hello Crewman Renirs. Thank you. No, this suit is not made for combat. In fact, combat is preferably avoided...
Renirs: Pity. I’ve heard that one of the big shot officers have swords in his cane and in his fake leg, so I thought you could have had something in there too. ::gets closer, whispers:: If you want something installed, just say a word. I got stuff.
Jozial had a peek at the rest of the team. The teacher’s pet cheerleader didn’t look like a person who would know anything about hidden weapons, and the “Don’t-eat-dirt” Vulcan would definitely not approve of them. Meanwhile, Wanna-be-ex-Borg (or WBxB with no friends) had mechanical stuff dangling from his body, so he might even have something totally-legal stuff in there. Just in case. Jozial appreciated such preparedness.
Savel: ::to Jaseb:: I believe that I am ready to go, if you are as well. ::to Jovenan:: Unless you have an objection, we'll begin Lieutenant.
Chevalier: ::puts the breather on his mouth:: Agree, sir. Ready to leave.
Jovenan: Of course. Choose a place where you wish to begin and map yourself a route. I’d recommend trying different types of terrains for varied results. Go ahead, I’ll join you in a moment to see how you’re progressing.
No-dirt Vulcan and WBxB walked away, while the robo blob had pulled out its tricorder and had turned to Jozial.
Gnai: Are you ready, Crewman Renirs? ::pointing to the nearest bend in the river:: Perhaps that would make a decent starting point to trace the toxins.
Renirs: ::groan:: Fine.
The tentacle tank walked away, towards the bend of the river. Considering her alternatives, Jozial decided to follow close behind. As much as she had protested being made to sit in a tuna can for hours, the shuttle’s luxuries seemed appealing compared to the barren terrain around them… except that’s where the Blonde-in-Blue kept guard. At least if she stuck with the jelly, she would be out of a senior officer’s sight. Who knows, they might even get back to the Old Cardi Station if they finished their job early.
The Bowl of Swot was already scanning the river with the device they each had been handed. Jozial looked at the one she had. It was rather different from the engineering ones she had been trained to use, but the basic functions seemed similar. Granted, she didn’t normally need tricorders in her work; she went with intuition most of the time.
Gnai: What brought you to tricorder training today, Renirs?
Renirs: They made me. The Princess Straight-A over there thought I need to bond with people or some similar rubbish, and my Supervising Petty Officer hates my guts, so they accepted.
Gnai: Response
The tricorder kept sending data to Jozial’s tricorder, but she wasn’t sure what to do with it. Whenever she typically used one, she’d need it only to find the source of the problem, not so much to store and analyse data. She gave a bash on the device for the show.
Renirs: I dunno. Maybe it was that I beat up the Security Chief, but I don’t think I should have been punished for it. Gabe was totally okay with it, we even discussed me training his officers afterwards. He’s chill like that. ::thinks:: Or maybe it was because of that one time I showed up covered in blood and asked your boss to fire one of your colleagues. But that’s okay too, he knew to leave the ship on his own accord. ::wink::
Gnai: Response
Jozial tried scanning again, but whatever she was doing seemed pointless without actually doing anything with the data. If she was going to be walking for kilometres in this desert, she better at least do something to get out of there as quickly as possible.
Renirs: Ugh, how do you even use this? I get stuff in, but nothing happens.
Gnai: Response
She handed the device to the jelly’s robotic hand and looked what it had to say. In middle of the speedy training, she turned to face its… face? Body?
Renirs: So, who did you have to kill to get sent here with me?
Gnai: Response
((OOC: Terribly sorry about the delay!))
