OOC: I just noticed now I made a mistake in my early sim location. We are obviously on the Bridge not Sil's office

IC:
((USS Artemis-A, deck 1, Bridge))

They were heading out and finalising the details for the away teams. Nan had a request to make after Vitor suggested that they all should be packing phasers.

Jovenan: Could I ask you to take some scans while you are there as well? I wouldn’t mind getting readings from as wide as possible, for later research.

Vitor smiled at the innocent request from Nan and almost looked at her. Turning to the more practical aspect he turned, looking at Zie, Genkos and Kali.

Silveira: I recommend we keep the Da’al and Klingon in our sights and have regular communication between the Artemis and the away teams.

MacKenzie: Prudent, as always, Mr. Silveira.

He raised his finger, not waiting for authorization to speak

Silveira: I would also recommend using a shuttle instead of beaming down. It’s another ship, even if small on orbit and on the planet, and it will be easier to cover.
Also it would show both Da’al and Klingon we have arrived in style.

oO Like the beginning of a joke… Oo

Zie raised an eyebrow, considering the request for a moment.

MacKenzie: I don’t think so… There’s no immediate danger here, and I’m not one for making a flashy entrance.

Vitor nodded but he heard Genkos muttering as he tapped his console for a relief and typed a few requests for the away teams.

Adea ::muttering:: That’s not remotely true.

Nicholotti: And I think the less tech we bring to the planet, the better.

Imril: How stable is this planet, exactly? Any tectonic stresses or weather patterns which could have an impact on the region the away teams will be beaming down to?

Lyara: With the limited information we have, the planet doesn’t seem to have any major tectonic movements going on right now or strong weather patterns. But that can change at any moment of course.

Vitor raised his eyes to the viewscreen. He had read about the original Genesys planet, so far this one apparently was resisting better.
A thought began to settle in the back of his mind, cut off by Zie’s words.

MacKenzie: Commodore Nicholotti, take Lieutenant Commander Salkath, Lieutenant Bergmen and Ensign Alroyo. See if you can find out what the Klingons are up to. Given that they’re a scientific group, maybe they’ll be willing to talk…

Nicholotti: Maybe indeed.

Lyara: Aye sir.

MacKenzie: I’ll take Lieutenants Sadar, Silveira, and Ensigns Imril and Solas. We’ll talk to the Da’al team and see if we can’t find out how they learned about the Klingon presence here and why they felt the need to investigate the matter themselves rather than waiting for Starfleet’s intervention…

Vitor raised an eyebrow and gave one last look at the Tactical readings. There had been no other movement from the Da’al and Klingon ships.

Imril: Aye, Captain.

After Imril replied he stood up and looked at Zie.

Silveira: Ready Captain.

Zie took a deep breath before turning to Genkos.

MacKenzie: Commander, I intend you let you and Commander Jovenan… indulge yourselves. Who knows if we’ll ever have an opportunity to study a Genesis planet this close again in our lifetimes. Take Lieutenant Gnai, and Lieutenant Savel just to be safe. See what you can learn about this place.

Genkos looked to Nan and gave her a small smile.

Adea: Looks like you get to do those scans yourself, Commander.

Vitor looked at her and gave her a slight nod before he started walking.

Jovenan: Response

Zie also nodded.

MacKenzie: Alright – team leaders, make requests for whatever equipment your people might need, and let’s go. I don’t want the Klingons thinking we’re dawdling.

Imril: ::Rising from their seat:: Captain, if we’re not using shuttlecraft, I recommend all away teams bring communicator boosters. Any sudden irregularities within the planet’s magnetic core could interfere with the ship’s ability to lock onto personnel for emergency beam-out.

Vitor tipped his head and nodded to Imril.

Silveira: Not a bad idea, it reminded me of something else I might bring along.

He turned, giving one last look at the bridge, viewscreen and Nan.

oO We will make it right this time. I will make it right… Oo

With determination he walked to the turbolift.

((USS Artemis-A, deck 7, Transporter Room 2))

Vitor walked inside the transporter room, right behind Imril and Kel.
He was carrying a backpack, since Imril’s recommendation reminded him to bring some transporter enhancers. Also it carried water bottles, field rations and extra tricorders.
He had left behind the phaser rifle he was tempted to carry. He nodded to those inside and

Sada greeted them as they entered.

Sadar: Ensigns. ::frowns slightly at the Lieutenant: Sil-net.

He forced a smile as she gestured to the phaser at her belt.

Sadar: You’d be the one to thank for this ‘recommendation-turned-requirement’, I’m guessing?

Vitor furrowed his eyebrows, completely caught by surprise with Sada’s words.
Was she… Sassing him?
Regrettably he wasn’t able to reply as Zie walked inside and didn’t gave him time.

MacKenzie: Well, isn’t it a great day for some scientific exploration?

Sadar: It would be, but... ::sigh:: That’s not what we’re doing. Is it, Sir?

Vitor shook his head.

Silveira: No.

Kel/Imril: Response

MacKenzie: No, not exactly a scientific mission. Not from our end, anyway. We’re to seek out the Da’al, figure out what they know, why they’re on the planet, and avoid any hostility by either the Da’al or the Klingons.
Vitor shrugged and started walking in the transporter pad direction.

Silveira: It’s a diplomatic mission. You will love it Lieutenant Sadar

Kel/Imril: Response

Zie gestured to the transporter pad and Vitor stepped in, taking the back position. That way he would see all of them.

MacKenzie: Shall we?

He took a deep breath. It was time. He closed his eyes as they began to dematerialize.

((Rinascita System, Genesis Planet, surface))

He took another deep breath and the scent was… Pleasant. Natural.
Vitor opened his eyes and the sight was all he expected.
The planet was even more idyllic than the sight from the viewscreen could reflect.

Vitor hated it. He forced himself to ignore the sight and began to scan around.

MacKenzie: Any sign of the Da’al?

Silveira: Not in the near sight at least.

Kel/Imril: Response

Sadar: I count 11 lifesigns currently, though there could be more out of range.

Vitor frowned. That would outnumber them, but they weren’t here to fight, quite the opposite.
He turned to Zie with his eyebrow raised.

Silveira: What are they doing here? Hunting the Klingons? Or are they working on something else?

MacKenzie/Kel/Imril: Response

Sada looked up at the clear sky, Vitor following her eyes, curious at what she was looking at.
Aside from the sky there was nothing there. No birds, no clouds.

Sadar: W-Well, uhh, we should have good conditions for hiking and scouting for a while, so... Catching up with them shouldn’t be hard?

Vitor pointed to his backpack.

Silveira: I took the liberty to bring some water bottles, field rations and transporter enhancers. I think we are good for a little trek. Just give us the direction.

MacKenzie/Sadar/Kel/Imril: Response

Vitor looked around. Although his own feelings were tampering with his analysis of the place, he noticed something out of the ordinary.

Silveira: Curious.

MacKenzie/Sadar/Kel/Imril: Response

Vitor raised his finger and rolled it around.

Silveira: It's so very different from the Meirashi planet. Listen ::He put his finger behind his hear.:: No wildlife sounds.

MacKenzie/Sadar/Kel/Imril: Response
