((Quarters 33, Sector 14, Deck 4, USS Artemis))
Lyara had felt relieved that with her new roommate had been very understanding of any boundaries needed to be set. This alleviated any anxiety she had about living with another person for the time being.
Lyara: Just don’t spill raktajino over anything.
Bergman: No problem. First, I always use a closed mug, so if I happen to accidentally knock it off the table, nothing usually spills. Second ::grins:: I'm not a fan of raktajino anyway.
Lyara gently chuckled as she loosened her hold on her bag and began to walk to her room. She stopped before turning back to her roommate.
Lyara: Oh by the way, I’m Bajoran and I practice chants and prayers every once in a while. I just want to tell you in case I’m too loud, don’t be scared to tell me.
Bergman: No worries! If your singing is as loud as you imply, we can figure something out. I'm pretty sure OPS has a couple of crates of noise-canceling foam in the cargo hold that we can use to cover the walls of our rooms. ::smile::
After his answer, she gently let out a relieved sigh. Her chants had been described as “annoying” or “too long and too loud” on multiple occasions when she was at the academy, especially when she did ones before bed. So, she thought she could at least be courteous to give a warning before she practiced.
Lyara: Great, thank you for understanding.
Bergman picked up his bag from the table and gestured a farewell.
Bergman: Nighty night, ensign roomie!
She smiled and waved him off as he went to his room.
Lyara: Sleep well, friend.
Lyara turned and entered her quarters, placing her bag on the bed. The room was smaller than the apartment at Denali, but strangely she felt more comfortable with less space. She was also happy to no longer have to worry about the couch she had to move, and could never find a spot that worked for her.
She sat down on her bed and opened her duffel to start placing her shrine pieces on the table next to her bed. There wouldn’t be any loud prayers or chants tonight, but there would be a deep sleep after she got her off-duty clothes into the closet.
Lyara: Computer, lights seventy-five percent.
As the light lowered she turned on her 1970s playlist her stepfather sent her, and picked up one of the dresses from her duffel to hang. She straightened the dress out and hung it up in the closet. The closet was bigger than she had anticipated and she felt like she under-packed. Lyara shrugged it off and turned back to the duffel. After she finished her task she could shower and go to bed, and that sounded very nice.
