Gavrin's aim was slooooowly improving as Cole continued instructing him and turning up the difficulty, one bit at a time.

Tarsan: At least tell me I'm not the worst you've seen?

Cole: No. I’ve seen worse. Accuracy improves with practice. What matters right now is that you’re taking corrections and adjusting instead of shutting down.

Phew. Well, he wasn't the worst. Gavrin would take that as a victory. He gave Natasha a wry smile.

Tarsan: I'm used to taking corrections, Lieutenant.

Cole: You’re improving, Ensign. Now prove you can do it on purpose.

Tarsan: Okay, let's not get too far ahead...

Gavrin swallowed when Natasha stepped behind him and set the drill off again.

Cole: Again. Same drill. This time don’t chase the target. Let it come into your shot.

Tarsan: Got it...

Gavrin nodded, a little more confident this time around. He had a better idea of how the targets moved this time, the Ensign levelling his phaser carefully at the places that the closest target was going to move to.

Cole: response

Tarsan: I just.. have to wait for it, right?

Gavrin took a breath, and another one, and letting it out in time with the movement of the target he fired once, twice, and a final time. This time all three shots landed and the Ensign let out a pleased noise.

Cole: response

Tarsan: Thanks, Lieutenant. Couldn't do it without your guidance

Cole: response

Gavrin gave a nod of agreement, right, the rest of the targets. He took aim and fired again, letting off the remainder of his shots. His grouping still needed work, but, it was a clear improvement on before.

Cole: response
