((African Art Exhibit - Metropolitan Museum of Art, New
York City, Earth))
The pair of tourists continued through the Met and now found themselves in an
exhibit of African Art. There were many more statues, carvings, masks, and
figures made from wood and stone. They were, in many ways, more intricate, but
they were also largely far less old than the items from Egypt.
MacKenzie: I don’t know as much about this stuff as I should. Humans
have a quite a diverse history, particularly from when we were largely tribal
people.
Sadar: H-Humans are still, uhh... Q-quite diverse. ::stumbles for
words:: A-As far as I’m aware, no other species has established quite so many
colonies, and so far away from your planet of origin! ::looks at the exhibits
again:: Humans are a very driven people, always pushing the boundaries...
Addison walked up to a figurine of a man seated – his torso was long, shielded
by some kind of armor, and on his head was some type of metal helmet. In his
hand, he was holding a long lance.
MacKenzie: ::flatly:: Well, we were also a brutal people… Some would
argue we still are.
Sadar: I-I think I might be the wrong person to judge that, b-but...
Judging the past with modern eyes will never reflect positively on it. Doesn’t
matter what species’ past it is, no modern society has made it to where it is
today without travesties...
MacKenzie: Oh, I’d certainly say you’re right about that.
The Mizarian looked away, perhaps aware that she hadn’t intended for the
conversation to move in this direction.
Sadar: ::clears throat:: Umm... Th-This is all, uhh, very historical.
A-Are all the exhibits here of historical art?
MacKenzie: Not quite to your taste, Lieutenant?
Sadar: N-No, I very much enjoy these pieces. I-I’m just not sure my
nephew would. ::twists her ring:: I always send him pamphlets and books on art,
but he leans more towards the, uhh... ::searches for correct word:: Excessively expressive
pieces?
Addison chuckled softly, so as not to disturb the others in the immediate vicinity.
The Met was one of the largest museums on Earth and it had one of the most
diverse collections of human-created art in the galaxy.
MacKenzie: ::checking a fake chronometer on her wrist:: How much time do
you have? Your nephew likes eclectic art, eh? I think they’ve got a few exhibits
that might just fit that criteria… ::patting Gila on the shoulder:: Come on.
