((Crew Decks - Nova Gamma Borealis))

As Talos and the group of junior officers that had joined him on the ill-fated expedition to the Gamma Quadrant slipped through the door, he shut it and locked it behind him.

Dakora: Everybody in!

Sadar/Gnai: Response.

Savel moved in first, his Starfleet Security training kicking in as he cleared the small corridor they found themselves in.

Savel: I believe we will be safe in this part of the ship, for the moment. Though I do foresee the boarders attempting to quickly pacify the passengers on the observation decks.

Talos nodded. It wouldn’t take long to round up a bunch of tourists, then they’d begin to sack the crew and probably start tossing the place for anything of value.

Dakora: Yeah, we’ve bought ourselves some time, but not much. We need to try and get a message out if we can...

He left the implication that they’d have to take matters into their own hands if they couldn’t unsaid.

Sadar/Gnai: Response

Casting a gaze down the tight corridor they’d found themselves in, Talos saw several compartments splitting off on each side, with larger areas opening up further down the hall.

The layout was strange, probably owing to the way the other decks had been opened up to make room for the expansive observation area.

Savel: If we do intend to seek out the communications room, we should attempt to locate more information about the ship’s layout. Wandering between decks in the hopes of discovering it by chance, even on a ship of this size, would be illogical.

It was a fair point, but this wasn’t a Starfleet vessel with convenient info panels strategically placed throughout the corridors, it was a modified civvy hauler.  Still, he motioned for them to follow down the hall to the larger ante-room up ahead.

Dakora: Agreed. Keep an eye out for signs or deck diagrams– anything that might help get us there.

Sadar/Gnai: Response

The corridor opened from a space not-quite wide enough for two people to walk shoulder to shoulder, to a larger room that, at first, looked like more of a maintenance bay. Large tool chests and heavy crates of parts populated the aft side of the space. His brow furrowed, as he tried to make sense of the equipment that occupied the other half of the room.

Several consoles and control panels seemingly connected to a large piece of equipment that was mounted to the hull of the ship. To Talos the equipment almost looked like holodeck controls, but that didn't make any sense.

Savel’s head swiveled around like he’d heard something moments before he spoke.

Savel: It may be wise to find a place to hide. Whatever, or whoever, made that noise is currently headed towards us.

Thankful for the Vulcan’s exquisite hearing, Talos gestured to the tool boxes and crates.

Dakora: It might just be the crew battening down the hatches, but let’s not take chances. Find a hiding spot and hunker down.

Sadar/Gnai: Response

Savel: Response

As he and the other Artemis crew members found places to hide, Talos crouched behind a heavy crate as a pair of voices approached.

From his vantage point he could see Savel, but not Gila. Hiding probably wasn't the easiest for Gnai, but it could just park it's exosuit in a way that would allow it's tank to pass as miscellaneous equipment.

He ducked lower as the footsteps approached.

Guide: S-s-see? There's nothing down here! Just some basic tools and spare parts. Just like I said!

Talos risked a stealthy peek around the side of the crate, seeing the same Bolian guide from earlier being led at gunpoint by scaley-looking humanoid. It prodded the Bolian with the muzzle of its weapon roughly.

NIC Pirate: Then why's there life signs detected down ‘ere?

The Bolian shook his head enthusiastically. The sweat stain growing on his NGB tunic seemed to be growing by the second.

Guide: I d-d-don’t know. I told you– other than the passengers– it's just me, the pilot and our engineer. And all of us were on the upper deck when you… well… arrived.

Ducking back behind the crate, Talos locked eyes with Savel. From the Vulcan’s position it seemed possible to sneak up behind the Pirate.

Once he was sure he had the Ensign's attention, he motioned with his head toward the bad guy and mimed his best impression of a Vulcan nerve-pinch.

Dakora::Mouthing the words:: Nerve Pinch?

He had no idea if Savel knew how to do the classic Vulcan move, or if he was being culturally insensitive in assuming that he could. Silently he picked up the heaviest spanner he could reach. That would be Plan B.
