((Conference Room, Deck 1 - USS Artemis))

With a veritable laundry list of repairs and tasks to be done, Lieutenant Commander Salkath was entreating the two most senior officers of the Artemis for direction on how to proceed. Too many tasks, not enough time or crewpower. All considering how 'well' they had fared compared to a majority of the fleet, however, it was an envious problem to have.

Dakora: Maybe we can reach out to Fleet Captain Ranier on DS224? She could possibly loan us some parts and personnel.

Salkath: If you mean parts and personnel delivered to us here, rather than us returning to the Borderlands, then perhaps. If we need to leave Sector 001 to effect repairs, then there are more advantageous locations to report to.

Though perhaps the first officer was onto something. The easier, more advantageous locales were undoubtedly already besieged by other ships in the same or worse shape than themselves. Still, just to be space worthy enough to travel back to the Borderlands would take time.

MacKenzie: No doubt, though I doubt Starfleet Command will want anyone leaving right away – Earth’s defenses are scarily lacking… Though I can’t help but think about all the species across the galaxy that might want to take advantage of Starfleet’s vulnerability at a time like this, and it would be nice to get out ahead of them…

Dakora: The faster we are repaired the sooner we can get back to keeping the peace in her backyard. It's worth an ask. That's all I'm saying….

MacKenzie: ::raising her hands:: No, it’s a good point. I’ll put in the request and see if they have any free hands and other materials.

Salkath pushed aside the array of PADDs before him, and leaned forward, elbows resting on the table. His exhaustion had to be apparent, but he needed to find a way to express himself effectively. He formulated a discussion in his head about scavenging from the hulls and wrecks smattered throughout the solar system - in fact, thought he had verbalized it - but realized that exhaustion must be  playing tricks on him. Looking at the commanding officers, he decided they likely didn't have an appetite to entertain such a suggestion, so he let the thought die. Besides, it seemed that the captain and first officer had the connections to supply Salkath with his needs without resorting to cannibalizing the carcasses of the fleet.

Salkath: ::slowly collecting the smattering of PADDs before him:: By your orders, sir. I can assure we will get the Artemis operational again, whatever it takes.

Dakora: Anything we could potentially outsource like that, we should consider it.

MacKenzie: Put together a comprehensive list so I only have to make one ask. And make sure it’s robust – I’m sure she won’t be able to grant everything, but at least if we over-ask, we increase our chances of getting more of the things we actually need.

Salkath: I will have that for your considerations in due course, Captain, Commander.

He nodded curtly to both in turn, already combing through his scattered thoughts to formulate a shopping list of materials and personnel to most effectively get the Artemis in working order in the most efficient manner.

Dakora: Right, well I think that about covers it. Captain, anything else you want to touch on?

MacKenzie: I suppose we can’t expedite the remodel of the ready room…?

Even Salkath could ascertain that this topic was a point of contention between the two, and he raised an eyebrow slightly in fascination at watching their dynamic play out. He could understand; it couldn't be worse a reminder of the state of their ship were there yellow caution tapes draped across the ready room entrance.

Salkath: I can make that a personal priority, if you so wish?

Dakora: At your earliest convenience, Commander. ::He grimaced.:: Every time she thinks about that window, the risk of my untimely demise grows higher.

There was much to be done and little time for discourse. Now was not the time to stand on ceremony; now was the time to get to work. Salkath arose, gathered his PADDs in earnest, and nodded deferentially before making to leave.

Salkath: By your leave, sirs.
