((Escape Pod Sabre Class-D12))

They were plunged into darkness. And worse - silence. The last screeching alarm stilled them. All she could hear was her own breaths, laboured as she held onto the straps - willing them to hold her as the pod shook violently and spun.

As the pod spun uncontrollably. She was reminded of her training. Do. Not. Panic. Easier said than done when all she wanted to do was reach out and do something. Anything to stop this freefall into … what?

But if she released the straps she'd be thrown and likely killed. Instead she waited for what came next. If she was a religious woman, maybe she would have prayed instead she controlled her breathing and thought against the urge to vomit. The zero-g training helped. Only a little.

When the daylight shone through the windows of the escape pod she could see the others. Lt. Imril, Doctor Jaran, and Lt. Commander Silveira, only just returned from his extended leave - what good fortune he had.

Munro: Brace yourselves!

It could have been mere seconds or hours. Then a roaring noise as she felt her body being pushed and then pulled. Were those trees?

Crash…

((Later… could be an hour, could be two mins))

Ava yelled out as she regained consciousness … her arms thrashed out before she realised that she was upside down. They all were. Thankfully she was still strapped in and somehow the pod had survived the crash. Barely.

oO  thank you to the wonders of Starfleet Engineering Oo

Silveira/Jaran/Imril: Response

Ava tried to crane her neck to see outside the pod's small window. She could see a thick, dark tree branch.

Munro: I think we might be caught in a tree.

Silveira/Jaran/Imril: Response

Ava allowed her legs to bend downwards before she released the fasteners that held her in place and allowed herself to drop on to what had been the roof of the pod - now it was the floor.

When she went to the window, she cursed under her breath. They were essentially snagged on a large, heavy duty tree but seemingly that tree was suspended over a deep gorge. And it was the only thing stopping them falling into the gorge below.

She took a breath and tried her commbadge. No response. The escape pod looked like it was also affected by the Charybdis Maelstrom's electromagnetic influence. She removed her tricorder from its holster and received unwelcome confirmation that too had been affected. No lights, no sound. Nothing.

Then the escape pod jolted before stabilising again.

Munro: First priority is to get out of the escape pod. No sudden movements. :: to Imril :: Help me with the manual release for the door?

Silveira/Jaran/Imril: Response
