((Sickbay, USS Artemis-A))
Genkos gently rotated the foot of Kel Solas, his current patient, to see how much the thing would move. He had scheduled Solas some appointments with the physiotherapist Kafkazet, and the results the Zaranite had shown him had seemed promising.
Adea: I see, and movement - how does this feel? Tight? Painful at all?
Kel: Tight, yeah. Almost like I’m clenching the muscles around the ankle. Even though I’m not. I think that happens when I walk too.
Genkos nodded and tapped a button on the biobed to note that.
Adea: That makes sense, it’s still trying to find itself.
Solas grimaced as the doctor continued his examination, his long slender fingers seeming to poke and prod the man’s foot and calf, but he was actually feeling the muscles and tissue beneath the skin, trying to feel if anything was off.
Kel: I know I’m lucky the phaser didn’t slice my leg off but shouldn’t it be healed by now?
Adea: It is healed, and it appears to be working, but pain is something we have to work through.
Solas didn’t know it, but he’d hit one of Genkos few sore spots - his leg had been lost in a transporter accident many years ago, and he still wasn’t over the pain. It was why he walked with a cane, and why he had a prosthetic leg - his leg had indeed been sliced off. However, he brushed it off and the good doctor pulled the man’s knee up - and if that caused a twinge of pain in the Bajoran… oh dear.
Adea: Does that hurt?
Kel: No, that doesn’t hurt. Or at least doesn’t make it hurt worse. Although my outer thigh feels a bit numb when you do that.
Adea: That makes sense, there is possibly some pressure on the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve - I recommend wearing looser underwear for the time being.
Solas leaned back a bit and stared up at the ceiling. Genkos let him sit quietly for a moment as the doctor continued his examination, whipping out his tricorder and beginning to get some initial readings.
Kel: I know this is silly but after the whole Borg incident I thought my first major injury would be something I’d be proud of. Like taking a shot meant for the captain or something. But here I am hole up on shore leave because I literally shot myself in the foot. It’s embarrassing, I think even my mother would have a hard time disagreeing.
Genkos wasn’t quite sure how to answer that.
Adea: Don’t underestimate mothers, they can twist anything to suit their needs.
Kel: Response
Adea: But in all seriousness, Solas - don’t beat yourself up. We were all put in impossible situations over the Borg incident, and we all dealt with it the best we could. You did well, and don’t forget it.
Kel: Response

"You know, I'm really easy to get along with most of the time, but I don't like bullies and I don't like threats, and I don't like you, Culluh. You can try and stop us from getting to the truth but I promise you that if you do I will respond with all the 'unique technologies' at my command." - Kathryn Janeway
