Before Alyndra was able to respond, the shuttle leapt forward out through the doors and into the void of space. Alyndra started a continuous scan of Lieutenant Bergmen using her medical tricorder. With the intent of recording his physiological state throughout the flight for analysis later. Looking down at her PADD all looked fine for the time being, however, there were some oral questions she needed answering.

Syrex: Ok, nicely done Lieutenant. Now please continue on this heading as indicated in your flight plan whilst I ask you a few questions, to make sure we have the basics covered.

Bergmen: As you command, Doctor.

Syrex: All right. Please state your name, rank, species and age for the record.

Bergman: Olliver Kimi Bergmen. Lieutenant, Junior Grade. A Gideon. 50 years, 11 months, and… ::thinks:: 12 days.

Alyndra checked the boxes on her PADD, everything aligned with his medical record.

Syrex: Is there anything that’s happened to you in the last twelve months that you have failed to report?

Bergmen: You mean… Medically oriented?

Alyndra felt a little apprehension from the Gideon. Having to ask if he meant “Medically Oriented” during a medical evaluation was slightly concerning.

Syrex: It’s important to note that this isn’t to trick you or catch you out. This is simply to make sure you are fit and healthy for solo flight. It doesn’t have to be anything major you’ve missed; it can be something small that perhaps you forgot to mention?

Bergmen shot a look towards Alyndra, before his turned back to his controls.

Bergmen:
I… ::thinks:: Yes, ma’am. Back on the Genesis planet, we were exposed to some… pollen. It had some… effects… ::sighs:: But those already vanished before we got back aboard Artemis, so I did not feel I needed to mention them in my aftermission report.

Alyndra sighed, shaking her head and noting down the officer’s negligence into her PADD.

Syrex:
Uh, huh. Care to elaborate on that?

Bergmen:
Uh, nothing that special. Color temperature, strength of scents, heightened awareness of surrounding sounds... things like that. No.. uh, hold yourself.

Alyndra listened intently. To her it sounded like a reaction synonymous with recreational substances used in some cultures.

Syrex: and what did you feel when you had this, heightened awareness?

Bergmen made some minor changes in the shuttle’s trajectory.

Bergmen:
What did I…yeah. It's not like we had hallucinations or something. Just… highlighted senses I would describe it?

Syrex:
Alright, I’m entering this into your medical record for follow-up. It may be nothing, but any long-term physiological changes surrounding these elevated senses, may be something we should explore.

Alyndra noticed some heavier breathing from the operations officer. Noting his anxiety Alyndra noted down what Bergmen had described to her, jotting in a small follow-up plan.

Alyndra usually knew how to deal with nervous patients. Having trained on some of the most vulnerable and most scared, she developed her toy-line. But something about this officer was different. His nervousness seemed to be more procedural-the consequences of his actions perhaps. Rather than the fear of her, of medical procedures that lived in the youth she saw so often.

Bergmen:
The path ahead seems clear. No more surprises. Five clicks to the training ground…eh, space. So what was it you asked? Can you say it again?

Syrex:
Oh, I didn’t ask anything. Don’t worry about it. Let’s just steer clear to where we can loosen up a little, hmm?

Bergmen: Response

(( Five Clicks later, Type-17 Argo Transport “Atlas”, Designated Flight Training Ground, Space around Risa ))

In the small amount of downtime, Alyndra had silently assessed Bergmens aptitude for piloting. Making notes of any minor mistakes, major blunders or things he did well. Approaching the start co-ordinates, Alyndra began his formal medical flight evaluation.

Syrex: Alright Lieutenant, please hold here whilst I explain the test to you.

Bergmen: Response

Syrex: So, this’ll be a forty-minute test, starting here with a few maneuverers before we have a few simulations of various encounters you may one day face, before we slowly make our way back to the Artemis. All right?

Bergmen: Response

Syrex: Then let’s proceed, do a barrel roll at one-quarter impulse. No internal dampeners. Oh, and try not to make me throw up.

Bergmen: Response
