Tamio was busying themself with setting up the exercise as they listened to Imril deliberating on the sharing of information that had been going on between the Artemis’ crew and the Starfleet Corps of Engineers after their recent ‘mission’ to Callis I. (If you could call getting stranded for close to two weeks on a planet with an electricity-dampening atmosphere ‘a mission’).

The USS Karnack - and its escape pods - had been old already, and thus slated for decommissioning, but Tamio wasn’t confident the Artemis would have fared any better than the aging Sabre class, which had had the dubious honor of carrying the Artemis’ senior staff into that particular area of space. Evidently, Imril had some thoughts on how to better the chances of those who may happen upon the Callis system in the future.

Imril: Between her notes and what I learned from our team actually getting the Faraday fields up, I have some concepts for building a new mission pod for the Runabout. A specialized shield generator that could enable expiration of the Maelstrom and regions like it. But I have to get some other engineer’s eyes on my designs before I write up a proposal to actually build a prototype.

K’Wara: Well, if anyone can figure it out, I’m sure it’s you all. ::looks up from the PADD with a smile:: All right. Ready to get started?

Imril: Aye. ::Taps a hail:: =/\= Perseus to Shuttlebay Control. We’re all crewed up and ready to head out. Mission profile 77-8-Alpha. Requesting permission to disembark. =/\=

Tamio looked up as they saw Imril prep the Perseus for flight, and Greer’s chipper voice came in across the comms system in response.

Grace: =/\= Permission granted. Happy flying. =/\=

oO Happy flying... Oo

Imril: On your order, Lieutenant.

Tamio nodded, their expression perhaps a bit more morose than usual, though they put on their best pokerface.

K’Wara: Take us out when ready, Imril.

They watched alertly as Imril released the docking magnets before easily and gracefully guiding the shuttlecraft off of the deck and out through the atmo-screen. And then, the darkness of space wrapped around them, and they were free.

K’Wara: Good job. Now, let’s see what else’s on the itinerary for the day...

Tamio brought up their list as Imril seemed to remember something they’d meant to say before.

Imril: Oh! And I also worked out how to make an energy-based freeze-ray pistol! Could be very useful if-slash-when we ever go back to Callis. Purely as a deterrent, of course.

That would have been uniquely useful while trying to keep the Dark Things out of Main Engineering, Tamio had to admit. The notion that Imril was actively making plans for ‘if-slash-when’ they would return to Callis I, though, was somehow amusing to the Cygnian Lieutenant.

K’Wara: ::smile:: Took a liking to the primitive lifestyle?

Imril: Response

They shrugged slightly in response.

K’Wara: Nah, not for me, but... I don’t know. Leaving questions unanswered doesn’t sit well with me.

Which was a very Starfleet answer, they realized. Were they becoming predictable!? The horror!

Imril: Response

K’Wara: :chuckles:: It’s a blessing and a curse. All right, time to get this exercise underway. ::slides fingers across the console:: First step, planning and executing a flight plan. I think the second moon’d be good.

Imril: Response
