(( Hydroponics Bay - Deck 9, USS Artemis-A ))
That day had been the most peaceful day of shore leave yet. All of the strange samples from the borderlands made for a beautiful resting place while Breys cross bred different varieties of Teruvian spitting vines. The hours ticked by and the flowers were going to bloom soon. Their buds already smelled of sickeningly sweet nectar. Who could believe this counted as work? She had to stay late, the vines needed constant watching to ensure proper blooming, but it was the best way she could think of to be spending her night.
At some point in the mess of time leading up to the big event, the doors to the hydroponics bay slid open. Breys heard who was there before she saw them.
K’Wara: Ensign D’tin Breys, what do you have to say for yourself?
Breys turned to meet them and was in no way expecting the glamorous outfit she was presented with. Were those leather shorts? The glitter in the Operations Chief’s hair really drilled home the issue. K’Wara crossed their arms in front of their chest. Obviously she had interrupted their leisure time with her mistake, whatever it was. Her brain immediately began scanning every interaction they had had in the last month, searching for why she could be in hot water. K’wara glared at her with terrifying eyes.
Breys: ::frantically:: I’m sorry I forgot to clean out the holodeck last week, sir!
This was obviously the wrong answer. Seemingly frustrated, K’Wara gestured to the area around the two of them.
K’Wara: I’m talking about why you’re still working. Don’t tell me you plan on spending the entire shore leave in Hydroponics?
Breys: Oh, uh. No. just until these spitting vines are ready for blooming. They should be ready in the next six hours!
She left out that it could take up to twenty.
K’Wara: D’tin, we’re in orbit of the only leisure planet in the Borderlands of positive repute, with nary a pirate or covert infiltrator in sight! Do you have any idea how rare that is?
D’tin blinked at them for a moment. She was unsure how to say she was so focused on this process that she forgot that they were orbiting Rylor for the smallest of seconds.
Breys: ::Reluctantly:: Yes… but I’ve been at this all day! If they are ready before I come back I could miss a perfect bloom!
K’Wara: Response
Breys:A species of insect on Teruv II opens the flowers at the exact right time to where the acid in the nectar can’t fully form, and you’re left with a beautiful bell flower and a nectar that tastes almost like earth honey. You can do the same thing if you watch its shade as it drips out the bud. Doesn’t that sound worth it? ::she walks back towards the plants:: I can save you some!
Breys seemed to be full of wrong answers today
K’Wara: Response
Breys: I’m assuming going to the surface to collect samples for hydroponics is out of the question?
K’Wara: Response
At this point Breys was ready to admit defeat.
Breys: I’m sure there is something for me to do on a leisure planet. If you think it is that vital I’ll go planetside for non plant related activities.
K’Wara: Response
She took in K’wara’s outfit again. Obviously they knew where something exciting was happening on Rylor.
Breys: So, where are you going dressed up like that?
K’Wara: Response
((OOC: There are some opinions that are kinda assumed here, I ran them all by Michelle first!))
