((Main Sickbay, Deck 7 - USS Artemis-A))
Though it had happened later than he would have prefered, Lieutenant Commander Salkath had finally found his way into the Artemis' sickbay to deliver his medical records. There, he encountered the chief medical officer, Commander Genkos Adea, and handed over the records. He stood at parade rest while the commander perused his medical file. His health was impeccable, always had been, always would be.
Salkath: I trust everything there is in order and up to date?
Adea: Indeed it is, welcome aboard Commander Salkath. Anything I should know about that isn’t contained in here?
Up went the eyebrow.
Salkath: Compared to many others, my, ahem, misadventures prior to our arrival in the Bajor system were relatively uneventful. There are no concerns to note about my health since my last medical, physically or mentally.
Adea: That is good to know, thank you.
The Vulcan considered the Betazed for the brief moment that they regarded each other. Salkath often wondered what someone with non-touch telepathy experienced when they turned their abilities against the average Vulcan. Just the thought of an onslaught of unbidden thoughts and emotions was enough to make the stoic engineer shudder. Not that Adea would get that from Salkath, no way. Calm, cool, and collected all the way over here.
Salkath: Yes, that is good, indeed.
Adea: And you’re settling in okay, no problems finding your way around?
Salkath: The computer contains a comprehensive and accurate directory, yes. Navigating has been no issue.
Pause.
Oh yes, 'small talk'. Not a literal query, more an offhand avenue for further discussion.
Salkath: I mean, the crew of the Artemis has been proficient in assisting me in acclimating aboard. Especially impressive considering the collective trauma experienced by all.
Adea: response
To be fair, Salkath wasn't the only one to need to get used to the Artemis. And he wasn't referring to just recent Academy graduates.
Salkath: If I understand correctly, everyone is relatively new to this ship. It was recommissioned just a year ago. Have you 'settled in' as well?
Adea: response
With his rank and position, Genkos would definitely be one of the senior crew on the ship. Other than Hallia, and not counting prison bunking with the cap'n, Salkath had had little interactions yet with the senior staff. But, the ability of the crew to weather recent events bode well for all the department heads and the leaders of the ship.
Salkath: One must commend you for your efforts in making the transition smooth, then. You and the rest of the senior staff. I have seen crews struggle with a changeover in vessels before, but this crew seems stout.
Adea: response
