((USS Artemis, deck 3))
Lyara: Sil, have you ever read… ::Trying to remember:: Shookpar?
Silveira: Who?
She had read only one of his plays, thinking it was a recipe for Caesar Salad and was confused when she started reading a very captivating drama. If her memory serviced her there was a famous line he could use to address a crowd.
Lyara: Yeah, something about… Friends and then Remans? Men of the country?
The delivery was absolutely butchered but who can blame her for not remembering. Never read when you’re hungry.
Silveira: Shakespear… Friends, Romans and men of the country. Or something like that. No I only read his Romeo and Juliet, but seen a few adaptations from his works
That was more than a hungry Alroyo had managed.
Lyara: I only know him from the play named after a salad.
S. Richards: Shakespear is an all around classic.
Silveira: There’s one I love, called Coriolanus. I saw a movie adaptation of it, but instead of happening in Ancient Rome it was set on Earth’s 20th century.
A temporally displaced version of the Ancient Romans sounded like an interesting idea, on Bajor there were many stories of mythological figures being brought to modern times. There was recently a very controversial retelling of the Three Brothers where they warp to Vulcan to sell their kava root.
S. Richards: Oh I know that one!
Silveira: Well the counterpart of Coriolanus in that adaptation was pretty hot. ::He smiled and winked at them:: He looked just like me when I had my beard, but without a toga.
Alroyo couldn’t help but laugh at the chief of tactical’s boasting of looking like an Old Earth celebrity. However, she remembered at the Academy a student would insist that she looked just like one of the actresses from a show about time travel. So maybe she wasn’t in a place to judge.
Sam held her hand up to interject.
S. Richards: Can I interject here? You should absolutely bring the beard back. Beards can really change a look for someone.
Alroyo had to interject herself, no way was she gonna date a person with a scruffy beard.
Lyara: I dunno, I think the clean shaven look suits him. Gives him a bit of a younger look.
Silveira: Response
S. Richards: I am serious! Beards are best. If I could grow one. I would.
Lyara knew of ways that Sam could grow a beard if she really wanted. But those ways were often recommended by a counselor after years of pagh searching.
Silveira: Response
Lyara: Grow one and see for yourself. I bet you’ll get one that can rival even the oldest of Vedeks.
That wouldn’t be hard as Bajoran men, particularly religious figures tended to keep their beards shorter.
Silveira/S. Richards: Response
Lyara: Beard or no beard, you’d make Coriolianus very proud Lieutenant.
Silveira/S. Richards: Response
Lyara: Now let’s get an audience for our Emperor’s New Threads.
Silveira/S. Richards: Response
