(( Transporter Room 1 - Deck 4, USS Artemis-A ))
Tamio bounded into the Transporter Room with a smile, prompting the small group of officers who were running routine maintenance on the transporter buffers to salute hastily. Tamio quickly shook their headful of mint-green hair.
K’Wara: Now now, keep those hands busy. Don’t want to risk any accidents. ::zeroes in on a Lieutenant:: Lieutenant Alvo, right? Could I bend your ear for just a second?
The aging Retellian looked at Tamio with suspicion clear in his face, though he didn’t object as Tamio led him out of the Transporter Room.
K’Wara: So, how long has it been since you went on that vacation to Commerce Authority space?
(( Lower Computer Core - Deck 7, USS Artemis-A ))
K’Wara: So, how’s it going down there?
The youthful Lieutenant JG, whose lower body Tamio was observing as they had inserted themself halfway into a Jefferies’ Tube on the southern edge of the circular Computer Core room, spasmed with shock at their voice, and Tamio could’ve been certain that they heard the rebounding sound of something hard striking against metal.
LtJG Kastro: Ow ow ow ow-
The jet black skin of the Coverian individual pulling themself out of the computer core made their eyes pop with alarming clarity, and Tamio cocked their head with a bemused smile as LtJG Kastro went through the lengthy process of determining who it was who was talking to them.
LtJG Kastro: Ch-Chief K’Wara?
K’Wara: Oh, Tamio, please. I wanted to ask: The freighter you grew up on, you guys frequented the Ferengi colonies on the Frieden Trade Route, didn’t you?
(( CoO Office - Operations Center, Deck 5, USS Artemis-A ))
Well, through a good balance of cajoling and blandishing, Tamio had managed to convince Alvo and Kastro to prepare the preparatory material for the cross-cultural training necessary to ensure as painless a shore leave as possible, and now all that was left was determining which team members would be responsible for actually conducting the training seminar. They’d asked Jovenan to recommend the resident xenologist with the most familiarity with Ferengi culture, but ultimately, they needed someone able to speak in more ‘leyman’s terms’, especially for ensuring that the freshest Ensigns and NCOs understood the most important points.
They tapped their combadge, sitting crosslegged on their desk chair as they looked over a PADD listing the numerous qualified possibilities. One name in particular stood out, and they recalled wanting to speak to this person regardless.
K’Wara: =/\= Lieutenant Bergmen? Please stop by my office when you have time. =/\=
Bergmen: =/\= Response =/\=
Tamio put aside that PADD for the moment, turning to another one in the seemingly endless stack on one end of the desk. The fact that Lieutenant Vailani - despite her boundless aptitude for organisatorial tasks - hadn’t managed to keep the still-pending PADDs to a single stack didn’t bode well for Tamio’s ability to do that.
They sighed.
K’Wara: Ah, PADDwork - the eternal enemy of self-respecting malingerers everywhere - absence did not make the heart grow fonder.
As they slaved away over shore leave duty rosters, requests for shuttle time from numerous officers hoping to spend their time in Commerce Authority territory to gather scientific samples and reports from various ongoing projects that were ‘happy to report results, but experiencing unexpected delays that would affect the timetable’, they were more than a little pleased by the time the door chime sounded.
Bergmen: Response?
K’Wara: Come on in!
Tamio looked up with a disarming smile, their mint hair messy from repeated combing motions to stop it from falling into their eyes.
K’Wara: Good to see you again, Olliver. Come in, take a seat. ::gestures to the chair on the other side of the desk::
Bergmen: Response
Tamio looked around the office. Admittedly, they hadn’t really taken the time to make it their own quite yet, barring some more comfortable and colorful furniture, but eh. There’d be time yet.
K’Wara: Not quite yet. These things ::waves the PADD in their hand:: are keeping me busy. ::smiles:: I heard you did good work organizing the evacuation efforts on the Cityship. Evacuating an active conflict zone is never the easiest job.
Bergmen: Response
