(( Captain’s Ready Room – Deck 1, USS Artemis-A ))
There was something gently familiar with the setup as it was, the only difference being who was 'behind the big desk' so to speak. It wasn't enough to take away from how much she found herself enjoying the moment though, comfortable with those around her being
her most trusted confidants, and content with the manner in which Genkos brushed against her mind in all the right ways. If there had been a way to bottle up this feeling and take it back to the Eagle with her, she would.
As it stood, she did everything she could to commit it to memory.
MacKenzie: …we should have you back to the Eagle in no time, but I figured you wouldn’t mind a quick stop by one of the galaxy’s destination hotspots for old time’s sake…
Nicholotti: You would be correct.
She smirked at her old friend, and grinned towards Genkos as he smiled softly at her. It had been far too long since they had been given the chance to simply be together. In the aftermath of the Frontier Day mess, those moments were something she would ensure
were not taken for granted even a bit.
Adea: I won’t complain…
That finally got a smile out of the fiery redhead.
MacKenzie: I think the last time I was here was right after the Resolution… I remember Vitor’s court martial after biting that man’s neck. ::closing her eyes and shaking her head:: Can you even imagine?
There was a slight hiccup in the waves falling upon the shores of her mind as Genkos considered it, tapped his temple with one finger, and then spoke.
Adea: I try not to… But he’s grown since then. I hope.
Kali could only nod to that.
Nicholotti: I think he has, at least a little.
That incurred a look from the Artemis' captain.
MacKenzie: They all have. Though, that any one of them would have thought I would have let them keep the Bird of Prey means I still have some work ahead of me…
While she chuckled and Genkos rolled his eyes, the tips of Kali's lips turned upwards and a bit of a knowing smile appeared.
Adea: Yyyyyess… And you’re sure you want Talos back in the chair? ::he raised up a placative palm:: I kid - he’s highly competent, and ::he fingered his collar distastefully:: red never suited me anyway.
Nicholotti: You always did look better in blue, but don't say you aren't suited for red. You're a damn good command officer.
The true strength of his abilities was found in the aftermath of what happened to the Resolution, and it was something she continued to hold in high regard. It might have been her ship, but it was his at the time of its fall.
MacKenzie: Response
Quick to change the subject, and probably rightfully so, he ran his hand through his hair and looked at the two women.
Adea: Well, we’ve done well, the crew’ve done well… Sapphire wine anyone?
Kali laughed and shook her head as if she had known this was coming all along. It was a sign of normality in a way, and an anchor to a life she loved, even if the times were sporadic and spaced.
Nicholotti: Of course...::To Addison.:: Are we officially on leave, captain?
MacKenzie: Response
A smile spread on her face.
Nicholotti: How long till we arrive?
MacKenzie/Adea: Response?
That would serve them all well. Falt had the Eagle well in hand and she wasn't too worried about that. Time would pass regardless, so it would be best to make good with the minutes they had.
Nicholotti: Just enough time to see the ship. I never did get a tour when they shipped me off to the Tholian border after all...
MacKenzie/Adea: Response?
