((Counsellor's Office - Counselling Suites - Deck 7 - USS Artemis-A))

Lux: How would you feel about joint custody with Kona?

Yet again, Alexandra inhaled a deep breath and then blew it out. This time she felt that Alexandra was releasing tension rather than taking it on. Lori knew that it would take some time for Alexandra to unpack her feelings and really make the real discoveries that lay deep inside. As was often the case but this unwinding was part of that process.

Storm: If I could find a way to trust that he wouldn’t take off with her again, I would welcome it with open arms.

Lux:  That seems like a fair request.

Storm:  I don’t hate Kona, Counselor…but it’s hard not to fear - not him, he never raised a hand to me, but what he has done … or what he could still do to spoil, what should be, a wonderful part my life.

Lori looked curiously at Alexandra, and how what was being said now appeared, at least on the surface to contradict what was said at the beginning. She wasn't sure that neither thing was incorrect or truly a contradiction. Both things could be true and therein lays the problem for her.

Lux: That does tie in with what you said earlier. That feeling you expressed in a lack of choice? Particularly in your marriage which you described almost like you had been trapped. No wonder you feel this way.

Storm:  I would give anything for this debacle to be over.  I’m so weary of it.

Lux: We're coming to the end of this session now. I'd like you to consider a reach out to the JAG office services on DS224 before shore leave ends and ensure that you have your legal requirements covered for when you make contact with Kona.

Storm: Response

Lux: It was nice to meet you, Alexandra.

Lori got to her feet and opened the door to the waiting area of the counselling suites.

Storm: Response

Lux: I'll send you an appointment for a follow up session.

As the Betazoid left, Lori closed the door and considered her thoughts for a second. It was always interesting interacting with a Betazoid in therapy as she had to try hard to hide any of her own strong emotions.

The Lux symbiont had the experience of two mothers. Asha and Tania. She felt that maternal pull; the fear for a missing child and the panic. Alexandra did not display concern for the child's physical safety but she wondered if she was right not to take action. Sometimes in therapy she must allow the client to take the lead, and she felt that removing Alexandra's agency in this situation would destroy the trust between them. She only hoped that was the right move…
