((Main Engineering, Deck 15 - USS Artemis-A))
If one thing was a certainty on missions, it was that Gnai would need to find its way to Main Engineering to get another tune-up on its suit. It had missed that appointment after their last mission - instead, taking the time off during shore leave to go back to its home planet for the first time in years - and now, after trekking around yet another overgrown planet, it really needed an engineer’s once-over. There had been some uneasy creaking in the joints, and no matter how hard it tried to clean it out, it still found traces of the sunbush pollen in its quarters.
So, with Lt. Cmdr. Salkath unavailable, Gnai had turned to one of the newer members of the crew, Ens. Imril. They’d been part of the mission with the Meirashi, but Gnai hadn’t had much time to talk with them before, and with missing shore leave, it still had barely interacted with them. No better time to change that than now, it supposed.
Main Engineering was far more bustling than it had been in the past, finally reaching levels of activity that it had had before the tragedy of Frontier Day, much to Gnai’s relief. It had been strange coming to find a veritable ghost-town the last time that it had required a check-in with Lt. Cmdr. Salkath. The prevailing feeling that it had had was one of intrusion, that it wasn’t supposed to be there, taking up space where there were palpable absences…
But now, thankfully, it could fall into the crowd a little, and not worry about causing too much of a scene. It puttered around, trying to look for the ensign, and hoping that they weren’t busy at the moment… Perhaps it should have actually reached out ahead of time.
Gnai: Ensign Imril…? Are you here?
Imril: Response
With the verbal confirmation, Gnai hurried over to the station that the ensign was working at.
Gnai: Hello… This hopes that this isn’t interrupting anything important…
Imril: Response
Delighted at their response, Gnai bobbed in its tank a bit, lightly flashing with appreciation.
Gnai: Perfect… This would normally reach out to Commander Salkath for assistance, but given his absence, this presumed that you might be willing to help? This suit is in need of a bit of maintenance, as far as this can tell.
Imril: Response
Oh, of course. Lt. Cmdr. Salkath had promised Gnai that he would give it the utmost privacy he could, and that none of the rest of the Engineering staff would get their hands on the files regarding the construction of its suit, should it not wish.
Gnai: Oh, yes, this can share some of the information with you. ::reaching over to tap in a passcode to the files:: Here, hopefully that will make this easier?
Imril: Response
