((Shuttlepod Don Pedro, Turkana IV Deadzone Debris Field))

Despite all its inelegancies, the plan was working. So far. The shuttle crew had successfully feigned their own demise, and the Desdemona had launched fighters to distract and engage their Shint counterparts. Soon, the Desdemona herself would open fire against the Shint cruiser, challenging it to a combat Jovenan was not convinced the Commonwealth ship would survive.

Any: Response

As much as Jovenan wanted to increase the shields’ protection herself as well, keeping them at the required minimum had been their plan for a reason.

Jovenan: We could, but it would just alarm the Shints. ::shakes head:: There’s nothing we should do about it. Let the Desdemona take care of it.

Jovenan was sitting at the back of the shuttle, so she couldn’t see outside from the small portholes near by the piloting seats. Still, the flashes from the space battle beginning behind the walls of the pod illuminated part of the interior and made the piloting team turn their heads. It seemed it was go time.

Dakora: And there she goes. ::He propelled himself  back into his chair.:: Strap in, we're going to power on and come in hot as soon as they hit near the target zone with a missile.

Any: Response

Taking no chances with falling off the chair like with the much less violent shot the Desdemona had given them, Jovenan strapped herself to the chair by the shield generator. The plan how they intended to enter the Shint vessel was idiotic, self-destructive and chance-based, and she didn’t trust the pilot or anyone else on the shuttle to get them through it alive. Still, she had been ordered to assist these people for now, and that’s what she intended to do.

The Major turned the power back on to the shuttle. If the Shint paid any attention to them right now, they’re ruse would be immediately uncovered.

Dakora: That's our cue.

The inertia rocked Jovenan slightly as the shuttle suddenly increased to higher velocities. They’d either get in or be smashed to the Shint vessel’s hull, making little more than a dent. The communications console made noise as they approached the ship.

Shint#2: =/\= Engaging fighters. =/\=

Shint#3: =/\= For Conquest, For Unity. =/\=

Thevn: For the People.

Any: Response

Their sudden powering up and manoeuvring was difficult to hide, but if there was a way to adjust the shields to make it as difficult for the Shint to spot them, she was going to do just that. Not only trying to keep them hidden, but she also tried setting the shields so that the damage the shuttle would take during the entrance was absorbed by the shields and not by the hull. They can fly without shields, but not without a hull.

Jovenan: Preparing the shields, but don’t expect wonders!

Any: Response

Dakora: Brace!

Any: Response

Then, the shuttle deaccelerated. First the rapid change of speed jerked Jovenan from side to side on her seat. Her arms and legs were flaying in the air as she pressed her eyes tight closed and tried to pull her limbs closer to her body. Then, they made contact with the enemy ship.

The hole made by the missile and their weapons was small, barely enough for the shuttle to come through. Nearly boring in, the shuttle’s shields tried their best to deflect the static hull plating from scratching the shuttle, to the point the metallic alloy melted with the contact to the shields. Still, the shields had to give in, and if Jovenan was to see outside, she could have seen sparks flying off the shuttle forcing its way through. But she didn’t see, and the only thing she experienced at the moment was deafening screeching noise, the violent shake within her harnesses and the pain it caused.

After an almost eternity of chaos, they came to a stop. Jovenan opened her eyes and saw a blinking console lights and the shuttle filled by smoke. They were either alive or the afterlife some Commonwealth people were obsessed with was a lot grimmer than what they claimed.

Thevn: Everyone conscious, say ‘ow’.

Jovenan: Ow ow ow!

She didn’t need to pretend. Her arms, chest and hips felt like on fire, or like cut through with a burning knife. After opening her harnesses, she painstakingly opened up her uniform top halfway through, revealing the bruises on her arms and chest where the harnesses had kept her in place.

Any: Response

Thevn: Someone, get this smoke vented so we can see something.

Any: Response

Jovenan: ::alarmed:: Medic, I’m injured! Look, I’m all on bruises! It hurst soooo baaad!

Thevn/Any: Response

Dumbfound by the strike group’s disregard to her physical wellbeing, Jovenan’s expression shifted from worry to stupefaction and finally to give away the sour dissatisfaction she had had towards the team from the beginning. Without saying a word, she zipped her uniform back on and turned to inspect the shields generator.

Jovenan: The shield generator survived the trip. Amazingly. Everyone, check your personal shields. ::to Lux:: Help me get the generator to portable mode.

They had made the shield generator portable, for in case they wanted extra protection or needed to leave the shuttle behind or otherwise improvise. Powering the generator down and redirecting energy from its power source to the batteries, she worked to detach it from the shuttle. Regardless of how their plan resumed, she was determined that she would not be the one carrying the device around.

Lux/Any: Response
