((OOC : this is just a scene to show what's going on with the diplomatic side of things and I've recruited the Diplomatic PNPCs to do so. This is going to be a low priority scene so take your time with it))

((Nascaik Defence Coalition’s Stronghold - Bewa City - Morta))

The breathing apparatus sat clumsily on her face and required permanent adjustments, which did not aid her in the permanent state of anxiety she had felt since she'd been asked to join the FDC on this diplomatic excursion. Her familiarity with the crew of the Artemis was cited as a good enough justification.

Familiarity wasn't how she would have described it, she read the reports and other than Fleet Captain MacKenzie, Lt. Commander Jovenan and Silveira she was completely unfamiliar with the rest of the crew. She scanned the names and their histories, read through their reports with eyes growing wider and all hope being lost. It was not ideal.

The delegation she had travelled with, on the very specific route that had been mapped out, were an eclectic bunch of Vulcans, Humans and Tellarites. A mixture of federation diplomats in their smart, customised clothing and the Starfleet diplomats in their purple uniforms. With each of the 10 diplomats they brought attachés, aides and assistants. The USS Matirah-Dawn was a reliant class tasked with transporting the delegates and they'd beamed down several hours before.

Then they waited within the central building, a dominant foreboding structure made of dark metal that seemed to pierce from the city like a god's dagger plunged into the very core of the planet. Stronghold indeed. They had been taken too and left in a large rectangular room that was barren except for statues that stretched several floors, between the statues there were balconies and every so often a Nascaik official could be seen peering down at them.

The Nascaik insignia was on every visible surface. This was a show of strength. Luxa had been introduced briefly to the new Artemis JAG Officer, a R’Ongovian Ozdin Sambur and was also joined by the Pifili, Lt. Pantaz Asturun, the cultural exchange diplomatic officer and her defacto assistant.

Lorana: The Nascaik will likely make us wait as long as possible :: to Sambur :: I've been tasked with representing the crew of the Artemis, along with yourself :: turns to Pantaz :: This is Lt. Asturun, a Starfleet diplomatic officer. I was also a Starfleet science officer, rank of Lt. Commander.

The words stumbled out of her mouth before she even thought about saying it. It felt important, to her, for them to know that she was one of them. That she had been Starfleet. She looked around at the carefully tailored clothing of the FDC members and their entourage and looked to her own clothing. A Caitian dress that looped stylishly around her body, before flowing around her legs, careful splits had been designed for her legs and her tail. Certainly not a Starfleet uniform. Too ceremonial, too grand. Her mother would approve, and that made Luxa's stomach lurch.

Sambur/Asturun: Response

Lorana: The Nascaik legal system is far more reactionary :: thinks :: and open to interpretation. The Atura holds a lot of power in determining whether justice should be, and I quote, ‘paid in blood’ which clearly means execution. Or ‘mercy will be shown’, a more lenient Resolution. Mercy ranges from imprisonment, work camps, financial recompense or reparations, or a simple apology. It seems to me that Mercy is a complicated concept in their culture. Justice, truth, honesty and historical context is all wrapped up in it. I bet the Artemis social scientists are dying to study it.
