(( Jaran Jira & D’tin Breys’ Quarters - Compartment 0311, Deck 5, USS Artemis-A ))

Chances to dress up were rare growing up. Funerals and weddings were the only outings D’tin ever wore nice clothes to. Once she moved to Bajor, she celebrated the holidays more with Bajoran fashion, but it was always about traditional clothes, and not a cute outfit for a night out. It wasn’t until the academy that Breys was introduced to the idea of dressing up for her own enjoyment. She latched onto the idea immediately, and never got amazing at it. The last year of the academy was so full of tests and drills that she nearly forgot about the idea entirely.

Then K’Wara walked up, covered in sparkles and leather, and they told her she wasn’t dressed right for their outing. Hiding her excitement was a challenge for Breys, but now, in front of her superior officer, it must have seemed obvious. One last “joke” to make sure she was in the clear, and D’tin would feel confident in going.

Breys: Well. Unless I'm breaking any cultural guidelines with my outfit. Do we need to head down to the planet then?

K’Wara: Hm? Oh no, certainly not, you look great. Sorry, I only just noticed the stamp. All right, let’s head off. We should still be there in time for opening!

After she heard that, something clicked in Breys’s mind. She had agreed to go to an art show with the head of ops on a whim. Or maybe K’Wara had talked her into it? She wasn’t sure exactly how it happened at that point. With that, Breys stumbled out of her quarters with all the confidence of a newborn fawn.

(( Corfyri Public Park - City One, Rylor ))

As always Breys spent the majority of the beam down squinting, trying to ignore the blaring lights of the sequence. As she parted her eyes enough to piece together more than a blur of her surroundings she immediately noticed the visible excitement of her senior officer radiating across the park. It actually took her a moment to look away and take in all the beautiful alien flowers and trees dotting the pristine meadow. The splashes of red and yellow made D’tin sad they were leaving this beautiful venue for some stuffy gallery.

Finally, Breys noticed the other people. There were a lot of them. They all seemed to mill about in small groups, presumably waiting to be taken to the show as well.

Breys: Well. The crowd all seems to be here. How far is it to the gallery?

K’Wara: ::slight smile:: We’ll see in a moment, I’m sure.

Then there was a strange image. A wave of color struck the sky, purple, orange, and green crashed down like thunder. For a brief moment the entire area felt cloaked in unnatural color, and in that time that Breys was distracted and staring at the sky, people began to move. K’Wara gave D’tin a nudge, she looked around. Scattered holo-emitters were deactivated and grand displays of all forms of art were revealed around her. Even the last remaining vestige of bleak grey concrete in the park was washed away to reveal vibrant patterns trailing into complex arrays. Breys could barely take it all in.

K’Wara: There we go.

oO Wow Oo

Breys stood there, mouth slightly agape.

Music filled the air, trailing off from the patterned amphitheater to envelop the entire installment. Statues of perfectly carved forms sat juxtaposed against ornate and abstract shapes that danced in the air as they shifted their vertices. Delicate panels of richly colored glass were stitched into domes of perfect precision. Even more was spread around them as people began to shift from place to place, moving to exhibits and obscuring D’tin’s view.

Beside her, K’Wara smiled at it all.

K’Wara: Well. What do you want to see first?

Breys: You’re letting me pick? This is your art show.

K’Wara: Response

With another look around, Breys found herself overwhelmed with options yet again. She took a deep breath and focused, peering through the crowd for something that stood out to her. D’tin was almost embarrassed with how excited she was when she saw it. She pointed in a direction.

Breys: What about that?

K’Wara: Response

The way she gestured included several magnificent groupings of art, but from the way she moved towards a specific set of tables it was clear what she was interested in. There were scatterings of beautiful crystal vases filled with fragrant flowers that were surrounded in strange curls of vibrant greenery. She felt like after this little time on the ship she was already predictable.

Something about approaching the first vase flowers reminded her of her time on Earth, not because they smelled like Earth flowers, but because they smelled like… the academy? That wasn’t right either, there was more than that muddled in it.

Breys: What does this smell like to you, sir?

K’Wara: Response

Breys: I think it’s either supposed to smell like learning, or stress. ::she pauses:: Or I don't get it.

K’Wara: Response

((OOC: I told myself this morning I didn’t need to mention plants every sim but Michelle HAD to plant the idea of floral arrangements in the previous installment.))
