((La’kso Canyon, Meranuge IV))

((OOC: Since this takes place before the dinner/promotion scene, I'm still using Lt. in the subject for this one. I didn't forget! 😂))

They had managed to recover Jovenan and Luxa from the ledge and Genkos had worked his medical magic on the Caitian well enough to get her ambulatory.

Considering how catastrophic the situation could’ve turned out, it seemed they’d gotten off relatively easily.

Still, the Intel he’d recovered from the Science Ministry databases had led him to believe there was more hidden in La’kso Canyon than just these two bumbling goons.

Dakora: Lieutenant Osuna, would you mind having a couple of your people do a quick perimeter search? I'd really like to know where these guys came from.

Osuna: Response

Talos eyed the prisoners with incredulity. He tried not to think about what might've happened if Savel and Luxa hadn't been able to stop them. He'd deliver them hog-tied onto Minister Erbil's door himself if he had to.

Fortunately, it seemed they'd have a bit more evidence than that.

One of the security officers called out over the din in the clearing.

Braga: Sirs, I think you should come see this!

Talos, Genkos and Gabe’s heads all snapped around toward the source of the callout, but the XO was the first to speak.

Adea: On the double, officers.

Lorana: Can you help me up Commander? I'd rather be on my paws, if I can, in case anymore Da'al make an appearance.

Genkos proffered a hand to the prone Caitian.

Adea: You’re with me, Luxa. Take it easy.

After ensuring that a pair of  Security Officers would stay with their captives, Talos, Gabe and a handful of others jogged over to Braga’s position.

Osuna: Response?

Braga: We were sweeping the perimeter when I caught a glimpse of this thing behind the vines.

Just beyond the clearing, inset into the wall of the Canyon and covered by conveniently placed hanging vines was what looked like a large set of hangar doors. Talos guessed at the width of the door being 20 meters or so; big enough to fit something the size of a Danube Class easily enough.

Talos clapped his hands in front of him, once.

Dakora: Good eyes Ensign Braga. ::His brow furrowed.:: Anyone have anything that’ll get this thing open?

Savel: Response

Jovenan/Kader: Response

Talos fell in with the Security team covering the door as the others found a way to bypass the door controls.

As the doors slid open with a loud grinding screech, he readied himself for a fight.

But no streaks of superheated plasma leaped out from the interior of the facility, in fact, there was no movement within at all. A small-ish ship of a seemingly Da’al design sat in the Hangar, on standby. The wrappers of foodstuffs and other tell-tale evidence of recent occupation were present, but Talos didn’t see anything that led him to believe there were more people manning the strange outpost than the two they had already captured.

Osuna/Savel: Response

Seeing that Ensign Lorana and Genkos had made their way to the suspicious hangar, Talos turned to the XO.

Dakora: Glad to see you got Luxa up and around, Commander. ::He gestured to the facility.:: If the evidence pans out, this might be the ship that redirected the meteor. We’ll have to bring a forensics team here to pour over the site.

Adea: Response

Jovenan/Kader: Response

Peering into the small base, he knew that they would need more sophisticated resources than a handful of Security Officers, a couple of camp-happy Ensigns and himself to uncover everything here, but it was a start.

Talos turned to Osuna this time.

Dakora: If you can loan me a few of your Officers I can stay and hold this area while you and Commander Adea get everyone else back to the Artemis on the runabout. We’ll still have that Shuttlepod in case of an emergency.

Osuna/Adea: Response

Any: Response

While they hadn’t quite blown the case wide open just yet, Talos felt confident that they’d find something in the secret hangar that would tie this whole thing together.

Watching as Osuna and the XO headed back toward the Runabout Acheron with the Ensigns and some of the Security personnel in tow, Talos found a nice rock to sit on as he waited for them to return to the ship and send reinforcements.

One thing was certain; his first trip to Meranuge IV had been one hell of a ride.
