((Holodeck 3, Deck 3 USS Artemis))

Something about the loud burst and shrapnel gave Charlotte an extra dose of adrenaline. She felt it deep in her core, radiating outward. The excitement that came along with doing something “dangerous” but well within the safety guidelines of the holodeck, amped her up.

Cole: Explosions say a lot about a person. ::eyes flick toward the charges:: I’ve shown you mine. ::winks:: Your turn.

Brexis: ::Flexing her arms and almost growling:: Let’s do this!

Cole: By all means. ::bowing slightly as she stepped back::

She all but skipped towards the table and looked between the items and the field. The door on the runabout was ajar. Not by much, but enough to spark an idea. She grabbed the fusion bomb and turned back to Natasha.

Brexis: Think I can aim this right into that door?

Cole: ::tilting her head letting the subtle wind to move some strands of hair:: I like your odds.

Charlotte turned, aligned her body and her arm towards the runabout. If she missed, worse case they reset the program and she tried again. Best case, she landed the bomb in the door and the runabout turned into a piecesabout.

Brexis: Here goes nothing!

Cole: ::smirking:: Impress me, Charlotte… I dare you.

She hucked the device, hard and precisely. Watching it spiral towards the field and her target. For a moment she tightened her eyes, waiting for the sound of the device to hit the runabout.

tink–BOOOOM!

The ground grumbled in protest as the runabout blew apart into hundreds of big and small pieces alike. The burst large enough to send a wave of air past the two women.

Cole: ::slow grin:: Remind me never to play darts with you.

Charlotte burst into loud almost maniacal laughter, the adrenaline coming out in a strange–yet not unlike her– kind of way.

Brexis: ::Smirking:: Wait. With me or against me?

She let the question hang for a moment.

Cole: ::steps closer, head tilted, tone teasingly intimate:: Then again… getting on your bad side looks like it might come with pretty spectacular fireworks.

She watched as Natasha brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, in an attempt to look casual.

The implications were obvious. And as hard as Charlotte tried not to hear or feel the vibes Natasha was practically radiating off of her— they were coming in loud and clear.

She’d be lying if she said she didn’t feel it too, at least a little bit.

Brexis: Everything about me comes with pretty spectacular fireworks.

Cole: ::letting her fingers trail along another charge on the table:: So… want to see if you can keep turning my head? Because I’m starting to enjoy the view.

There it was again. Those particular feelings that Charlotte had a history of making bad decisions with. What harm would it do to be a little flirty with a fellow crew member? That depended on how far either of them let that flirtation go.

As much as she wanted to go with the flow and see where things went, Charlotte knew better. Flirting and letting go of her inhibitions with a fellow crew member was probably not a road she should head down.

But when was Charlotte one to not take the road less traveled?

Brexis: Go ahead and enjoy the view. ::Taking a step closer:: But I have to warn you…

Charlotte reached over, grabbing Natasha’s hand lightly and holding it like a lifeline. In that moment, looking into the eyes of the human standing there. She stopped. Inches away from Natasha’s face, the warmth in Charlotte's chest died like a bucket of ice had been dumped on her. She took a step back and lowered her eyes to Nat’s glossy lips, wishing so badly she could ignore the burgeoning feelings.

She took a small step back, still holding onto Natasha’s hand.

Brexis: ::Clearing her throat:: I’m not good for you. I don’t want to ruin what could potentially be a really great friendship. ::giving her a warm smile:: I’m sorry…

Cole: Response

It was a very uncharacteristic thing for Charlotte to do. If it had been just a few months ago, there would have been no hesitation planting her lips onto someone else in the excitement over an explosion.

That must be what growth felt like. And she hated it.

Brexis: From what I can tell already, you are a good person. ::Finally letting go of her hand:: I don’t want to be a setback for you. ::laughing lightly:: What I can be, is a really fun friend.

Cole: Response

With a somewhat stoic smile, she turned back towards the table, ensuring she kept her mental barriers firmly in place so she didn’t feel any potential hurt or frustration that might be coming from the woman now standing behind her.

Brexis: What do you say we end this day off right? More big booms?

Cole: Response
