(( Sickbay – Deck 7, USS Artemis-A ))
There was something that had been rolling around in Addison’s mind since CloQ left, but she couldn’t be bothered to outright ask her Betazoid friend if it was meant as a warning or simply another one of the annoying omnipotent being’s mind tricks. Still, beating around the bush asking about his health didn’t seem to be getting her anywhere, so taking a more direct approach seemed to be the only way to get her where she wanted to go. She sat a little taller in her chair.
MacKenzie: Well, before they left, CloQ issued a bit of a warning. (beat) I mean, I guess it was a warning. I don’t know what to make of it.
Adea: CloQ? What did they say?
MacKenzie: Something along the lines of keeping an eye on the Betazoid and that not everything is what it seems…
Genkos nodded and leaned back in his chair slightly.
Adea: And that made you worried about me?
Addison’s eyes narrowed slightly as she leaned forward in her seat.
MacKenzie: ::half-mockingly:: Are you Shint-Genkos?
Adea: No. ::his grinned:: But then I would say that, wouldn’t I? Their words unsettled you, didn’t they?
She smirked, sitting back in her chair.
MacKenzie: I haven’t been able to shake the feeling since they left. When’s the last time you had an exam?
If she wanted the answer to that question, along with what the results were, she could have just looked it up, but that particular intrusion as someone who wasn’t his physician felt like an invasion of privacy that she couldn’t stomach. Genkos sat back in his chair, pondering the question.
Adea: I don’t know… a few weeks ago? I ordered check-ups for everyone aboard after our encounter with the Shint, in case there were any more charlatans aboard. ::he smirked for a moment, remembering his recent meeting with Silveira:: Although saying that, Vitor appears to never have come for his.
She half-rolled her eyes and shook her head.
MacKenzie: Consistently stubborn.
Genkos pulled his tricorder out of his top drawer and threw it across the desk into her hands, then sat back nonchalantly.
Adea: Feel free to examine me, Captain. For your own mental reassurance more than anything… ::he paused:: Although did CloQ say “the Betazoid”, did they use those words, or did they use my name?
She stood, unfolding the tricorder and removing the scanner, then moved to the other side of the desk to where Genkos was seated. She started the exam and continued to talk.
MacKenzie: Just the Betazoid.
Adea: Response
She kept her eyes fixated on the device, analyzing the readings as they continued to update.
MacKenzie: Of course it’s possible. I don’t know why I’m fixated on you – probably because if I let anything happen to you, Kalianna would have my ass…
Adea: Response
Her eyes shifted back and forth between the tricorder and Genkos, confirming what she saw on the screen with what she could see with her eyes. After a moment of hesitation, she folded the device and handed it back to him.
MacKenzie: You’re fine. Apparently.
Adea: Response
She returned to her chair on the other side of the desk and crossed her arms, a bit begrudgingly. After a moment, her face softened.
MacKenzie: Well, I suppose I don’t have to lose sleep over your well-being any more, do I?
Adea: Response
