((Near genetic research lab, underground facility, Kurtûl III))

((OOC: I’ve cut Jovenan’s and Brey’s lines while they step away.))

Once both sets of forcefields between the treatment room and the control room, and between the control room and the antechamber, had come down, Havun had moved inside the treatment room.  He stood at the side of the bed holding Falun’s hand.

Once inocculated, Alex had followed him, holding the device that Ikaixar had given her.

Storm: How much of a hand did the Romulans have in all of this?

Havun: They just... Told me where to go.

That was it?  Had they been following the wrong lead this whole time?  They even had a whole group devoted to teasing out which Romulans were a part of the theft.  Alex stood there, paying no attention to the device she was holding for Ikaixar.  The stillness of her body was completely contrasted against the speed with which her brain was trying to process and tease out the implications of the information Havun had just given them.

Ikaixar: You’re saying they had this apparatus just sitting here, gathering dust.

The doctor nodded to Alex, and the movement caught the Tactical Officer’s gaze.  It was several seconds before her brain shifted gears and realized that meant she could lower the device.  She held it back out to the doctor.

Ikaixar: I think he’ll be staying on his feet for now, I can take over the cell growth stimulation.

Storm:  So the theft of the Alfaqi never had any other purpose than to get you and Falon here?

Her words hung in the air.

Havun: I won’t try to run. ::weak smile:: D-Don’t think I could if I wanted to. But- But Falon-

Havun’s non-answer was the clearest answer he could have given.  He stole a ship, ruined the lives of the people who came with him, killed everyone on a Nascaik ship, and played with Thaleron radiation all to save someone he loved?

Alex studied him. He loved Falun. That was a given, but in the right context, love means letting go, and when we can’t - our fear of ourselves without the other person is what drives us instead of love.

She knew what love was.  She loved her daughter with everything in her, but she wasn’t about to destroy the lives of everyone around her to get to Cassie.  That couldn’t mean that she didn’t love her daughter…

Ikaixar: Do you have any way of getting her out of here? We can move her to the Artemis, we will be able to treat her there.

Again, the doctor’s words pulled her out of herself.  Replaying what Ikaixar had said, Alex came up beside her and whispered into her ear, only loud enough for the doctor to hear.

Storm: We’ll have to move her, though.  This area has a dampening field in effect and is too heavily shielded to beam through it.

Havun: Da’al, we don’t know how to treat Warst Reecras... Please. Help them. Falon, and the others.

Ikaixar: Others—? Are there others in her condition?

The raven-colored head snapped up.

Storm: The others that came with you…they are affected by this as well?

Ikaixar: We’re going to do what we can to keep her alive. But we need to move. Can you walk, Havun?

Storm:  I can help, Falun, but I’m not sure I could carry her myself.

She let out a puff of air and pressed her eyes closed for a split second.  Opening her eyes again, she gave her head a little shake and reached out, pressing her fingertips against the wall.

Havun: Response

Ikaixar: Are the computers intact enough for a data transfer? We can send Fallon’s medical records to the Artemis, or at least carry it on a tricorder.

Storm:  I’m no computer genius, but I can try.  I could potentially upload it to my tricorder if we can’t transmit it to the Artemis.

Taking a breath and releasing the wall she had been holding up, Alex moved to one of the computer terminals.  Tapping several buttons on her tricorder, then opening a menu on the computer terminal, she attempted to interface her tricorder with the Nascaik systems.

Havun: Response

Alex shifted to the computer terminal and tried to establish a connection from the terminal to the tricorder.  Intuitive, it wasn’t.

A low grunt escaped her lips as she ran into another roadblock.  She turned back to her tricorder and tried something else with it, and then suddenly the two devices decided to cooperate, and Alex was able to download the necessary information on Falun.

Ikaixar: We’ll help her, and we’ll help you. You have my word.

Storm: I’ve got her information.  If nothing else, you’ll be able to see what they’ve done so far.

Havun: Response

Alex looked between the woman lying silently on the table and Ikaixar.  Alex was no stranger to death.  In the line of duty, she had taken more than one life, but this was different.

The woman's chest rose and fell in studdered increments.  The pained look on her face was one Alex had seen many times as someone readied themselves to slip from this world to the next.

She kept the shutters of her mind tightly closed.  Experiencing someone's death through their own eyes was not a situation she ever wanted to repeat.

Storm:  I might …

Her voice drifted off, but her eyes continued to study the woman.  Then, glancing at the doctor, she finally continued.

Storm:  I might be able to carry her over my shoulder, but I’m concerned that would be dangerous for her.

Havun/Ikaixar:  Response

Storm: But less dangerous than leaving her here, I’d guess.

Havun/Ikaixar:  Response

Storm:  I’m a good tactician doctor, and a good mother who understands compassion, but medically, I have very little understanding of what will help, what will hurt, and how I can best be of use.

Havun/Ikaixar:  Response
