(( Corridor - Deck 5 - USS Artemis-A ))

Meris was en route to Elysium when they decided to reach out to the Operations Officer listed on the ship's roster for assistance.

Meris: =/\= Ensign Meris to Lieutenant Bergmen. =/\=

Bergmen: =/\= Bergmen here, how ... how can I help you, ensign? =/\=

Meris: =/\= I was hoping you had a moment. There’s a matter concerning my quarters I’d like to speak with you about. Minor, but irritating. It won't take up much of your time, I assure you. =/\=

The J'naii was hopeful Bergmen would assent to assist them.

Bergmen: =/\= Okay, ensign, if there is something wrong with your room, just send me the ticket and I can look into it. My SSN is GB-503-838. =/\=

Perhaps they could entice the Lieutenant with the promise of a drink or two?

Meris: =/\= I was heading to Elysium. I thought it might be easier to explain in person. Perhaps you could join me for a drink? =/\=

Bergmen: =/\= Ok, give me ... five minutes ... and I'll meet you there. Bergmen out. =/\=

(( Elysium - Main Lounge, Deck 6 - USS Artemis-A ))

Meris had chosen a table near the center of the Main Lounge in the hopes that they might spot Lieutenant Bergmen when they arrived. While Meris waited, they observed the quite exotic Kantare speaking with a Lieutenant in Operations yellow. The woman who remained standing during their conversation was quite beautiful, Meris thought, and they couldn't help but wonder how such a woman had found themself on the Artemis.

Meris turned to glance out the tall portals at the fore of the lounge once again. When they turned back, Lieutenant Bergmen had squeezed past the two women with a stack of PADDs in his arms.

Meris: This is probably the only time I'll prefer the view from my quarters to the view from here.

Ollie nodded in agreement and set the stack of PADDs on the table, along with a cup of milk, before taking a seat across from Meris.

Meris eyed the glass of milk. oO I guess I can't offer them a drink. Oo

Bergmen: I'm JG Bergmen, Ensign Meris, I presume? So how can I help you?

Meris: ::slight smile:: Yes, Lieutenant. Thank you for agreeing to meet me. I wanted to discuss a minor issue with my quarters assignment.

Bergmen: Do you mind if I take notes? Nothing for an official report or so, just points for me, for later.

The Lieutenant picked up the top PADD from the stack he had brought with him.

Meris: Of course, though I doubt notes will be needed. It really is a small matter but, to some of my species, it would be considered highly offensive.

Bergmen: Response.

Meris: You see, the placard next to the door to my quarters has me listed as the Artemis' helmsman.

Bergmen: Response.

Meris: While that is an accurate title, I am not a 'man'. It would be more appropriate if placard identified me as the Helm Officer or Helmsperson - if it's not too much trouble.

They hoped the Lieutenant wouldn't consider this a bother, or beneath them to address. It likely would have escaped the notice of anyone who wasn’t J’naii. But to Meris, it was a point that needed correcting right from the start.

Bergmen: Response.
