to USS Artemis-A – StarBase 118 Star Trek PBEM RPG
((USS Artemis, deck 7, Counselor’s Office))
Not unexpectedly Jashkaa had just the free time to see him.
How very fortunate.
Vitor tipped his head and leaned a little back, making himself as comfortable as possible.
Silveira: I am certain you read my file so you know this isn’t exactly my first counselling session. Well, where do you want me to start? I have more than enough to keep you busy.
Jashkaa took a small sip of water, before looking at him intently for a moment, her green gaze holding him firmly as she crossed her legs.
Jashkaa: Why don’t you begin by telling me what it was precisely that brought you to my office door this fine day.
Vitor frowned slightly but kept his grin. He leaned forward, taking the offered glass of water and held it with both hands as he slowly looked at Jashkaa.
Silveira: Very well. I suffered a loss more painful than I could have imagined. In our last mission I realised one of my hero figures was only human. And during the last and the previous missions I might have let my emotions run my decisions, although not as dramatically as before.
He took a sip of water, leaning back.
Silveira: Enough of a starting point?
Jashkaa: Why do you do that? ::she pointed at his body language with a slender green emerald finger:: You announce your trauma like it’s a bomb to be dropped, an effect to be awed at. Why?
Vitor grinned and leaned forward, as he theatrically opened his arms.
Silveira: Because I like making an impression. Taking centre stage and stealing the spotlight.
He leaned back, winking at Jashkaa.
Silveira: I thought you might have figured that out from my file.
Jashkaa: ::pursing her lips at the response:: Anyway, about this loss. ::she didn’t need to look up his file, she’d committed it to memory:: Jovenan. Tell me about her. And not the facts, I can look those up. Tell me what isn’t in the file.
His posture changed. The grin was replaced by a serious expression and he put down the glass, before folding his arms across his chest.
Silveira: What can I say? That she was beautiful, intelligent and kind? That whatever pulled us together in that moment we shared impacted me deeply? That…
Vitor paused, his eyes began to burn and he swallowed the lump that began to form in his throat.
He uncrossed his legs, leaning forward. Looking straight at Jashkaa he reached for the glass of water and took a long sip.
Staring at the glass he continued.
Silveira: That this time, more than any before, I fear I might lose control of my emotions and…
Jashkaa: Response
Vitor played with the glass in his hand for a second, as he tried to formulate a reply.
He set it down, straightened himself on the seat and looked at Jashkaa.
He blinked and took a deep breath before replying.
Silveira: And tear everything apart, just to try and ease the pain, guilt and anger. Just set this universe on fire, everything, everyone.
And the next. And all universes in between hers and mine.
Vitor stared back at the glass, breaking contact with Jashkaa.
Silveira: This might not be exactly what you meant, but it certainly isn't on file. Talking about Jo makes me realise that I will never have the chance to truly know who she was.
And that brings up a lot of boiling emotions that I am still trying to navigate.
Jashkaa: Response
