Genkos sighed for a long moment as he looked at the ceiling. Addison had brought him what an old friend would have called a “doozy” of a problem. CloQ had teased something being wrong with “the Betazoid”; it could be him, it could be Talos, it could be anything. But then it could be nothing.

Adea: Have you considered that CloQ was just messing with you? One final twist of the knife before disappearing? They really dislike us all for some reason.

It was now Addison’s turn to sigh.

MacKenzie: They’re quite a vindictive, nasty little creature… I don’t know that causing us any mental anguish quite fits their M.O., though – they seem much more the type to put us through actual hell.

Adea: ::quietly:: True.

Addison was right; Genkos didn’t want to admit it was true, but it was very much not in CloQ’s personality, or at least how he understood it, to just mess with them. Addison stood slowly, smoothing the front of her uniform, shaking her head.

MacKenzie: What seems much more like them would be to allude to something that has yet to happen… keep us guessing.

Adea: Constant vigilance? Or forget about it?

She raised her arms and shrugged slightly. Genkos let out a small snort of amusement - they were doomed if they did, doomed if they didn’t. Betazoids didn’t have a phrase for that, but he’d heard humans call it a Catch-22.

MacKenzie: I suppose there’s no sense in worrying about anything until we have something to worry about. …right?

Adea: No harm in checking in, Addison. Keep it in the backs of all our minds, but try not to double think it?

She smiled and nodded slowly, before rapping her knuckles on the doorframe in the same manner as when she’d entered. It made Genkos smile back - he hadn’t really considered it, but they had served together for years now, and so he knew that they implicitly trusted each other.

MacKenzie: Even though I’ve deemed you healthy, it could be fun to force Gila to give you a physical and critique every move she makes. She’d likely twist the anxiety ring right off her finger.

Genkos laughed enthusiastically at that and waved her away with a languid hand - what more could he say? The mental picture was more than enough and nothing could be added. Addison offered a playful smirk and wiggled her eyebrows before heading out of Sickbay.

"You know, I'm really easy to get along with most of the time, but I don't like bullies and I don't like threats, and I don't like you, Culluh. You can try and stop us from getting to the truth but I promise you that if you do I will respond with all the 'unique technologies' at my command." - Kathryn Janeway
