((4 standard days later - The Ruins of the Karnack - Callis I))

((OOC - just doing a little exposition))

As much as she enjoyed reading, Ava wasn't one for writing. Yes, reports and logs were standard fare for a Starfleet officer, but they were obligatory notes and details.

Since she'd arrived on Callis, she had taken to jotting down information on notepads she'd salvaged from the wreckage of the escape pod. These notes had evolved and she found herself writing down her feelings, and her more intimate thoughts. Moreso in the last 4 days since they'd stepped onto the ancient Callisian transporter network.

Something had changed in them. They had become altered. She was, of course, happy to see Jovenan, Tamio, Bancroft and Bergmen. The pain they had felt in the transportation was worth it, even if it has weakened them. They had taken several days in the garden to nourish themselves while a plan began to form.

Tamio had worked fervently within the Faraday cage, and had established a location of the Karnack. This meant they'd all need to jump through the transportation network once more. At great risk.

They suspected that the use of the transportation network had resulted in the Callisians turning into the carnivorous Things that had been hunting them. She had spent a lot of time wondering if they had known that that would be their fate, that they'd had no choice …

… Much like themselves. They had determined the risk was worth it, if it meant that they could get home.

That was 2 days ago. It had taken them a full day to recover, in the ruins of a city. Eventually they had found remnants of another Starfleet team, two separate pods and then they'd come to the Karnack.

To much joy they had found MacKenzie, Storm, Cole, Brexis and the new officer, Ensign Syn.

(( Karnack Engineering - Deck 4 - USS Karnack))

It was interesting to her. How quickly they became officers again, in spite of everything they had been through since they crashed here, in the presence of Fleet Captain MacKenzie and onboard a Starfleet ship, in their varying states of dishevelled attire, they had become a crew once more.

It had been mere minutes since they had all been reunited and here she was standing beside the captain in the engine room. The warp core barely functioning, it seemed that the nacelles and the technology that protected the warp core acted as its own insulation from the effects of the Maelstrom. The only issue was, a starship needed more than a barely functioning warp core to operate.

MacKenzie: Response

Munro: Getting the shield emitters to mimic the properties of a Faraday Cage long enough to get us out of the system is going to be no mean feat. Especially since we have no operational systems. But I think we can do it - if we can figure out a way to replicate the Faraday Cage effectively. Brexis, Bergmen, Breys, we'll need your help getting this set up.

Bergmen/Brexis/Breys: Response

MacKenzie: Response

Munro: That's true. Even if the shield emitters work, we won't get far with the Karnack in this state.

Jovenan/Silveira: Response

Munro: Agreed. Bring Storm, Bancroft and Syn with you, and get those holes fixed. But be careful, the Things are still out here, and as it gets dark, they'll get more daring.

MacKenzie: Response

K'Wara: Response

Munro: In its current state the warp core power distribution would likely cause a cascade failure. We're more likely to blow up the ship and this corner of the planet than get off this planet. Tamio, work with Imril to find a workaround, I don't think I need to tell you how important it is :: pauses :: Cole and Jaran, you're temporarily reassigned as technicians :: smiles :: Congratulations.

Cole/Jaran: Responses

As the crew gathered themselves, and took the opportunity to greet each other, Ava watched them with consideration. This was a far better outcome than she could've expected. Her mind did wonder if there was more of the skeleton crew out there on the planet fighting for their lives.

Then she felt it … the ache in her body that had only intensified since they had gone through the transporter the second time.

((OOC: this is a chance for some short reunion moments if you want them))

((Computer Core Upper Level - Deck 5 - USS Karnack))

The good thing about a sabre class was it's size. It didn't take long for them to go down one floor in the Jefferies tube, and then locate the computer core.

Ava took a rest against a bulk head as the others found their positions before she straightened herself up.

Munro: I think we need to establish how we can insulate key systems from the Maelstrom. Propulsion and shields should be the priority. And connect systems to the warp core.

Bergmen/MacKenzie/Brexis/Breys: Response

Somewhere…she heard the screams of the Things. She felt a pain run through her spine, she gritted her teeth and swallowed it down.

Munro: Let's make it quick. That sounds closer than I'd like.

Bergmen/MacKenzie/Brexis/Breys: Response

((OOC:
Computer Core Team: MacKenzie, Munro, Bergmen, Brexis and Breys
Warp core team: K'Wara, Imril, Cole and Jaran
