(( Deck 7, USS Artemis-A ))

Bancroft: ::recovering his breath:: Ah, it was never about speed for me – it was all about the distance, the grind. That’s where the stress really pours out of you. I think my best time on the 5km track was somewhere right around 21 minutes. ::a pause:: How’d you do on this one?

She glanced at her wrist chronometer, as she continued her cool down after her run through Deck 7, and the brief run along with Doctor Bancroft.

Munro: Impressive. I haven't established my Artemis time. Once the ship is repaired I'll have a better idea. I wonder how you'll measure up? If you can, that is?

She gave him a cheeky smile as he appeared to mock calling for help.

Bancroft: Bancroft to Sickbay, medical emergency. Ego down on Deck 7. ::pause:: Please don’t send Meyers.

Then, with great ceremony, he slid down the bulkhead until he hit the deck. Ava laughed out loud, as she lowered herself to stretch her legs.

Bancroft: ::smirking:: You realize the Artemis will be fully repaired long before I recover from this run, right? So, sure. I’ll measure up. ::a beat:: Just give me… ::checks nonexistent watch:: …six to eight business weeks?

She shook her head.

Munro: That's slacking off, Doctor. We need you fit for duty. I prescribe a strict running schedule.

Bancroft grinned.

Bancroft: Ah, fair point. Tomorrow morning then? Same time? I could use a good push. ::a grin:: Nothing says “personal growth” like getting absolutely smoked by the new XO and then signing up for more, right ma’am?

Munro: Who am I to get in the way of your growth. I'll clear your schedule. 0500 hours Alpha Shift time :: shrugs :: Nothing better than starting your day with a run - no excuses doc… you asked for this.

From the corner of her eye she saw another medical officer, in uniform, stare at them. She looked annoyed for some reason. Perhaps Bancroft's superior - she hoped that he wasn't shirking his work to go running.

Bancroft: ::candidly:: You know, I used to feel incredible after a run – especially a hard one like that. Clear-headed, calm, even a little euphoric. Lately… I’m lucky if I just feel a little more like myself.

Before Ava could say another word the unknown medical officer interrupted them.

Meyers: ::neutral expression:: Sounds like something you should get looked at, Ensign. Perhaps a medical checkup is in order? ::to Munro:: Good morning, Commander Munro. Lieutenant Junior Grade Yesfir Meyers. It’s good to meet you.

Munro: Likewise, Lieutenant :: to Bancroft :: I have to agree with Lt Meyers doctor. I want you fit for our run tomorrow.

Bancroft: Response

Meyers: Hear what?

Ava had worked alongside many types in her career in Starfleet and Meyers definitely fit within the more uptight category. She wondered what it would be to see the young woman smile? And somehow the thought terrified her…

Munro: Lieutenant, wouldn't you agree that regular exercise is good for any Starfleet officer?

Bancroft: Response

Yesfir raised a thin black eyebrow in a suspicious manner, before shaking her head.

Meyers: Just a morning walk. Routine physical exercise, even something as simple as a walk, has significant health benefits: improved cardiovascular health, balancing blood sugar levels, increased sleep quality... Though I wouldn’t recommend overexherting oneself ::checks chronometer:: 28 minutes before the beginning of your shift.

Ava raised her eyebrows at Bancroft and then shrugged.

Munro: She has a point :: playfully :: Time management is important, Ensign. I doubt your patients want you dropping sweat all over them.

Bancroft/Meyers: Response

Ava held in a laugh as Bancroft reacted. She nodded to both officers.

Munro: I'm going to leave you both to it :: to Bancroft :: Tomorrow morning, I'll send you the starting point. Bring your A game, I expect you to keep up.

Bancroft/Meyers: Response

Munro: :: to Meyers :: Make sure he gets a thorough examination, Lieutenant :: to Bancroft :: You can thank me later.

Ava let out a small giggle as she left the medical officers to it.

Bancroft/Meyers: Response

End Scene for Ava Munro.
