to USS Artemis-A – StarBase 118 Star Trek PBEM RPG
((The Sadar-Aqila Quarters - Compartment 83, Sector 03, Deck 6, USS Artemis-A))
With Al around, poor Sada was right on the spot light.
Vitor grinned at Al and winked.
Silveira: Care to explain… Doctor?
Al raised her eyebrow, placing her hands on her hips in a clearly mocking way.
Sadar: H-He’s staying while he’s studying. Mizabet doesn’t have an, uhh.. An ’arts degree’, and Kolya is.. ::searches for the best word:: ‘stubborn’.
Vitor felt like Sada was… Proud? Was he reading it correctly?
He admittedly still felt he needed to know Sada better, but he had always in his mind that she was unique.
Silveira: That’s good. Did he always show interest in Arts?
Sadar: Y-Yeah... Or, well... He went back and forth for a while, but recently, he seems to have, uhh... ‘Found his niche’?
Lyara: It’s always good to find where you fit, I was probably going to be a farmer until I found out I loved flying. Now after four years in the academy here I am.
Al motioned around the room as if to indicate the entire ship itself.
Vitor nodded. It was fascinating how different cultures and species had different views of things.
Sadar: I see…
Silveira: Well, if I hadn’t enrolled at the Academy I would either work with my parents in their trading company, or go for a University degree in History.
Admittedly, with all that I… ::He smiled and looked at them:: We… Have been through, I still don’t regret it.
Al smiled as she added her own opinion
Lyara: Kolya’s lucky to be in a galaxy of opportunities. Like us he’ll find his own.
Sadar: I-I hope so.
Since the conversation was taking a serious turn Vitor couldn’t resist, and, as the portuguese expression goes, added his little spoon.
Silveira: Well, when Kolya is free I can help him socialize. There aren’t that many kids here but… ::he winked at Al, before looking at Sada:: I can teach him about interspecies relationships.
Lyara: I’m sure you have plenty of experience with that Lieutenant.
Vitor winked in reply after Al patted him on the shoulder.
Sadar: I think all of us do? No? ::considers:: C-Certainly there are no Mizarians here, and we have considerably few Bajorans, so by definition, wouldn’t service in Starfleet necessitate interspecies communication?
Vitor opened his mouth but managed to shut it, and not reply to Sada’s innocent remark with what first came to his mind.
He simply shrugged and thought it best to not over explain.
Silveira: Yes, actually I think you're right.
Lyara: But, I had plenty of half-siblings growing up. I know how to watch a kid no matter what their age is. ::She gave a slight chuckle:: Well, except the late teens. I moved out by then.
Sadar: ... W-Well, Kolya is in his ‘late teens’ though.
Silveira: Still we are around to help, him and you Sada.
Al took another bite of what looked like hasperat, and pointed to it.
Lyara: And we could teach him how to make something so spicy it’ll practically be blasphemous.
Sada reached out for Kolya, who had returned.
Sadar: Do you cook, Ensign Lyara?
Kolya: Dona loves to cook. Even non-Mizarian foods! She even cooked with a Klingon on Deep Space 9 :: looks to his Dona with fresh awe :: I heard that Klingons cook with Batleths.
Vitor smiled and shook his head.
Silveira: I don’t think that’s a good use of a Bat'leth.
Lyara: Response
Sadar: I, uhh... I-I dabble. Th-That is- uhh - th-the replicator doesn’t know many Mizarian foods, so I tend to make them myself. The incident with the Klingon was just, uh, coincidental. I was looking for someone, and they roped me into attending a cooking class with them.
Vitor raised a curious eyebrow and was eager to learn all the details. But he thought it best to let it go for a moment, as they were now talking over food and cooking.
Silveira: Interesting…
Lyara: Response
Sadar: Oh no, I wouldn’t have the first clue how to make a good Hasperat. Mizarians don’t eat, uhh, spicy foods. W-We don’t have any spices that would create that kind of flavor profile on Mizabet. ::looks at Silveira:: Y-You made Hasperat for us once though, didn’t you, Sil-net?
Vitor nodded, he had “played” around with Hasperat more than once. The one he served Zie back on Risa was tempered with fruit.
Silveira: Yes, it was a slight adaptation of it. The Hasperat I am most proud of was one I cooked for the Captain in Risa. I made a dish for each of the staff attending that dinner, for Talos it was one of their seafoods. ::he wrinkled his forehead, trying to remember:: And I also got something for Genkos… It’s been a few years, it was before we got posted in the Excalibur.
He waved his hand as if he was mentally returning that page to the past.
Lyara/Sadar/Kolya: Response
Silveira: Well I have cooked for years. ::he gestured to Sada:: Sada, Nan and I had a cooking date in one of our shore leaves. We should do that Al. ::He turned to Kolya.:: Do you know how to cook Kolya?
Lyara/Sadar/Kolya: Response
Vitor winked and tipped his head to Sada.
Silveira: One more thing that Uncle Sil can teach you.
