The two scientists had settled into their conversation together, Sam felt good about giving her thanks to Jovenan. They were beginning to delve into the more personal side of things when Sam felt comfortable enough to share a small bit about her and Talos.
S. Richards: ::Setting her drink back down:: I met with the Captain as soon as I arrived here. I haven’t had much of a chance to talk with Doctor Adea, but I do hope I can at least pass along a thanks for keeping my boss alive. ::shifting her gaze and trying to find the right words:: Talos- I mean, Commander Dakora, we uh… We met a while after Frontier Day. We are kind of… seeing each other?
Sam searched the Edo’s face for some type of understanding. While she and Talos hadn’t necessarily defined their relationship, they had agreed they were in this together. She hoped that maybe it would be less of a shock to people when they found out the two were soon to be parents if the word was out they were at least something.
Jovenan: Oh. OH. Sorry, I didn’t realise! Talos must have forgotten to mention that…
S. Richards: It’s still all pretty new and we haven’t really worked out the details, but I am pretty fond of him. Without speaking too much on your First Officer’s behalf… I’m inclined to believe he likes me too.
All things considered, Sam really did feel like he cared about her. He had made that obvious even before they found out about their two-in-one surprise.
She resisted the urge to put her hand on her stomach- which had quickly become a habit- for fear it would make it obvious there was more to the story.
Jovenan: Congratulations, then! Talos is a wonderful person.
S. Richards: ::Smiling:: He is pretty great. A bit of a goof too, but I find that to be one of his more endearing qualities.
Jovenan: He is, but he can be caring and sensitive too. He must be very lucky to meet you, you seem a great person too!
Once again her pregnancy emotions started to take hold of her. Sam blinked hard a few times to settle the emerging feelings.
S. Richards: Thank you, ::smiling:: That really means a lot.
Jovenan: Have you known each other for long?
It wasn’t necessarily an awkward question, but once people found out they were expecting, it wasn’t going to be difficult to put the pieces together about the peculiar timing.
S. Richards: Uh, not for very long, ::nodding:: a few months.
Jovenan: So, how did you meet, then? ::waves hands sideways a few times:: You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to, I’m just curious, and I hadn’t heard any of this before.
S. Richards: Oh, no it’s fine! We met in a bar in San Francisco and just kind of hit it off. ::sipping the last bit of her drink:: It sounds pretty cliche, but we came together at a dark time after Frontier Day. I can’t help but think of him as one of those silver linings.
Even saying it made her cringe a little, it did sound cliche, but it was true. If any one good thing came from that terrible day it was the friends she made and meeting Talos Dakora.
Jovenan: Response
Soon she realized that more time had passed then she intended, which she wasn't complaining about, but she didn’t want to hold Jovenan up any longer.
Sam reached out across the table and set her hand on top of Jovenans before patting it a few times.
S. Richards: Thank you, for taking the time to talk with me. I know you have to get to your shift. Hopefully I will see you around before I head back to Amity, but if I don’t, I have a feeling I might be around here more often.
It wasn’t something she wanted to assume, but chances were she would be back, hopefully before she was either hugely pregnant or walking around with two newborns. Only time would tell for sure though.
Jovenan: Response
Sam stood up from the table and gave a warm smile before making her way around and giving her a quick hug.
S. Richards: I’ll see you around Jovenan. Stay safe out there. Let’s keep in touch okay?
Jovenan: Response
