((Captain's Ready Room - Deck 1, USS Artemis-A))
Imril: Their archivists have recorded every single item that’s been seized, no doubt. In precise spatial context, thoroughly as an archaeological dig site. ::Knowing sigh:: So that when their engineers and black ops snoops are done picking everything apart, everything can be put back together exactly how it was.
Silveira: That was another thing I should have considered.
MacKenzie: ::rolling her eyes, muttering sarcastically:: Oh now we should think about it...
Imril had already made clear what they had been thinking about when they launched the skiff. There was no point to repeating it, beyond further aggravating their Captain. But they understood now that amid all the concerns they were juggling in that moment they had taken their eye off of the political ball, and that had been a moment too long.
Vitor straightened himself.
Silveira: It was like letting the Nascaik take Jetripar.
Imril: I see that now.
Vitor eased his posture and shrugged slightly.
Imril remained rigidly straight-spined.
Silveira: Well there's a reason why I am just a simple department head.
Imril: It’s clear I have some learning to do before I approach that distinction.
The Captain closed her eyes and held up her hands.
MacKenzie: Enough. Can I assume that through this conversation, you both have a new perspective through which you might filter future decisions like this?
Vitor already had that even before the meeting. As his mistakes unfold he was already realising that he had to learn more about making command decisions.
Sheepishly he nodded
Silveira: Yes Captain
Imril: Aye, Captain.
MacKenzie nodded.
MacKenzie: I'm so pleased to hear that.
Silveira: Thank you Captain.
Imril: Thank you.
She leaned forward, folded her hands on her desk, and sides of her lips curled upward in a devious smile that was even more terrifying than her angry glare.
MacKenzie: I should certainly hope not, because if this ever happens again, you'll be the one sitting through the tribunal - not me.
Silveira: I… I just want to say one last thing Captain.
Imril wanted to side-step out of the line of return fire, but managed to hold their position beside him.
Silveira: It has been a… Learning experience. But again I think Lieutenant Imril acted in the best possible way… ::he looked at Zie and nodded, looking down:: And if there is one responsible it's me. I’m sorry to let you down Captain.
Imril: As am I, Captain. I see now that I didn't pay enough heed to the non-engineering aspects of my job.
MacKenzie: Response
Vitor looked back up and opened his mouth, but he nodded and simply replied.
Silveira: I better just keep quiet…
Imril: …Aye.
MacKenzie: response
Imril nodded respectfully, then turned and left. Walking with a stiff-legged gait that made very clear to everyone on the Bridge that they had indeed been raked over the coals. They didn’t face anybody, looking inward as they moved along the side of the room. Replaying the events of the standoff in their head yet again, and with more vigor than ever before. Had they been correct? Had there really been no other way to deal with so much plasma in so little time?
By the time the turbolift door opened to them, they were mentally building a holodeck recreation of the event. To triple-check their math and look for anything at all that they might have missed.
If Vitor was going to be joining him inside, it was going to be a quiet ride.
MacKenzie/Silveira: response
