As Genkos spoke, Gnai bobbed along politely. What a strange job to have.

Gnai: ~ Interesting. On Galador II, there isn’t much need for doctors anymore. ~

Gnai watched as Genkos raised an eyebrow, a gesture similar to the one that Vulcans seemed to enjoy so much. It knew it was an odd thing to say, but it was just a fact as a Galadoran. There wasn’t much need for the position.

Adea: ~ Really? How come? ~

Gnai: ~ I ::whole:: have no threats within my ::whole:: cities. And I ::partial:: am identical to every part of myself ::whole::; there is no genetic disease. ~

The mental silence was evident as they continued to walk through the trees, and Genkos pondered his response. Gnai wasn’t certain if he had understood - communicating the nuances of Galadoran society was always a bit difficult to outsiders.

Adea: ~ But do you have doctors in case of injury? What about death and old age? Apologies for the questions, I am fascinated ~

Gnai: ~ It’s fine, ::pause, it’s still a bit strange not to call him sir:: Genkos. Injury is rare and death from injury is even rarer on my ::whole:: world. Death from living long is just part of the cycle, I ::partial:: die and more of myself ::whole:: are born. ~

Not that it found the concept at all pleasant. No Galadoran liked to die before their time, it wasn’t right. Better to die of old age, peacefully on Galador II, and to allow new polyps to bud off eventually.

Adea: ~ What about from a purely educational or academic standpoint - do you have students of Galadoran biology? ~

Gnai: ~ Yes, biologists do exist. It’s just not something that I ::partial:: am interested in. But it is a course of study that exists. Someone has to study to find ways to improve my ::whole:: quality of life. ~

It wasn’t as if non-humanoid biology was as boring to Gnai as humanoid biology was, just that it found the stars that much more compelling. Biology was far too near, too experimental. It wanted to explore and to be amazed by things, not just test and test and test again in a lab.

Adea: ~ Response ~

As they continued to wander, Gnai wondered where Toto, Genkos’ dog had gotten off to. He had seemed so excitable - had he gone off and gotten into trouble? Or was he just another curious little creature, investigating something that had caught his attention?

Gnai: ~ Sorry. It’s hard sometimes to explain what my ::whole:: society is like. There are things that seem normal but then I ::partial:: learn that they are unique to Galador. ~

Adea: ~ Response ~

Gnai: ~ What’s Betazed like then? I ::partial:: was only there briefly to transfer to the Artemis. Before CloQ snapped me ::partial:: into the past. ~

Adea: ~ Response ~
