((Transporter Room 3, Deck 7 - USS Artemis))

The trip to the transporter room had been a fairly short one, though not quite as short as it might have been aboard the Resolution. Deja vu was strong as they moved towards the inevitable goal on the planet below, but having literally walked through her own past at one point, she was thankful it was only a feeling.

Walking, hands clasped behind her back and saying nothing to the officer who had nodded to her when announced to be on her team and who had followed her from the bridge, Kali walked into the transporter room still in her thoughts of what was to come. It was only when the team was fully present, having all seemingly arrived at once, that the raven-haired commodore looked up and at each of those assigned to her.

Salkath: Commodore. An honor to serve with you on this mission.

Kali dipped her head at the Vulcan officer.

Nicholotti: The honor is mine, I assure you.

There was a lot to be said for getting back to the boots on the ground type of exploration that she'd been a part of as a young commander and captain. A thread of excitement wove around her mind despite the heavy nature of where they were headed.

Bergmen/Lyara: response

She looked around and visually took in everyone's kit and made sure all was in order as the engineer motioned to the same and asked the question out loud.

Salkath: I assume this is acceptable kit for the mission? For that matter, what exactly is our mission, sir?

Kali nodded and then let a slight smirk wash over her face.

Nicholotti: It's a good start, and start is where we must begin. As far as our mission...well, we're tasked with figuring out what a Klingon science team is doing on an off-limits Genesis planet.

Which, all in all, sounded like the start of a horrible joke.

Bergmen/Lyara: response

Gesturing towards the transporter pad, Kali led the way up.

Nicholotti: If there's no other questions, there's no time like the present.

Salkath/Bergmen/Lyara: Responses?

Only a few moments passed before she found herself looking down into an empty room save for the chief manning the console. Kali nodded a silent command and within seconds the blue lights of the transporter obscured the room.

((Surface, Resolution Genesis Planet))

When the lights faded, the scene was replaced by an almost untouched lush woodland, broken by a tall grass field kissed by visible rays of sun. In another time and place, the scene might have been quite peaceful and beautiful, but Kali was well aware of the blood that had borne this place. Not far beneath the surface, the very bones of those who had given their lives for this place were mixed among the foundation that had become a thriving planet.

Getting her bearings, she glanced at her team.

Nicholotti: Any sign of our Klingon friends?

Salkath/Bergmen/Lyara: Responses?

That figured. They couldn't be far off. Scanning the horizon, Kali soaked in the strange sunlight on the strange planet and for a moment swore that she could hear whispers in the breeze as it danced across her face.

Nicholotti: What about anything else?

While the Klingon science team was their goal, they didn't know what else they might be facing on the surface. Taking a moment to figure that out was the right place to start.

Salkath/Bergmen/Lyara: Responses?
