((Conference Room - Deck 1 - USS Artemis-A))
Kyle shook his
head as his eyes shifted between Commanders Jovenan, Silveira, and Munro. How
had he managed to find here? Oh, that’s right – MacKenzie couldn’t be bothered to
find a replacement CMO before she left to go run whatever errand Starfleet
Medical needed now, and so here he was stuck doing the job… And to make matters
worse, he was now seated around this table with the other senior leaders watching
this makeshift-CO pretend she wanted her job any more than Kyle wanted his…
Had he even been in this room before? He couldn’t remember… And it didn’t
matter. The job was his – for now – and he had to press forward.
After an initial report out from the various teams on their findings so far,
there was very much a looming sense that the mystery was only starting to
reveal itself. The real work had yet to begin. Until now.
Munro: I've received an alert from New Hope that
engineer Dariell has gone missing. Commander Silveira, you met them on the
ship, any impressions?
Silveira: Response
Munro: :: nods :: I want you to take Lt. Storm, and locate the engineer
and find out more about the saboteur, I don't have to remind you to use a soft
approach. I don't think the Boraxians will want us pointing or firing phasers
at their sacred vessels.
Morgan: Not going to make it easy for us, are they?
Silveira/Jovenan: Response
Munro: I wonder if there are any Yurum that may not be as devoted to the
cause as Luirétt and Vhaljean would have us believe? :: to Silveira :; Take
Ensign Tho'Bi and Ensign Meris with you. Meris has a way of cutting through the
noise that might be useful, and they are familiar with the Yurum from working
with Luirétt. Tho'Bi is familiar with the ship.
Silveira: Response
Munro: Doctor Morgan I'd like you to work with Sam Richards and Lt.
Imril on the discovery they made on New Hope. Take Vhaljean with
you, see if they know anything about it.
Kyle had only had a chance to briefly reveal the report that had been filed. He
wasn’t a scientist, but Richards had developed quite a reputation, so he had hope
that between her scientific background, his medical expertise, and Imril’s
engineering mind, they’d be able to uncover more clues.
Morgan: I’ll see what we can do.
Munro: Commander Jovenan, we will be taking a team to the city ship.
Advocate Chavrainne has invited us to join them at the Yurum Sanctuary Spire
and Luirétt has agreed to come with us as a representative of the Yurum. This
might give us a chance to see what their living conditions are like.
Jovenan: Response
Munro turned to look out the window to her side. Kyle cautiously looked to
Silveira and Jovenan, not wanting to preemptively assume they were finished, but
when the two senior officers started to push their chairs away from the conference
table, the interim CMO followed suit and made a beeline for the door.
(( Science Lab 3, Deck 9 - USS Artemis-A ))
While waiting for Richards and Imril to arrive, Kyle took the opportunity to
prepare PADDs that had been loaded with a summation of the team’s findings so
far, annotated with further analyses of any work that been done on the recovered
samples since they’d returned from the Boraxian’s ship. When the information
was loaded, he took a seat at one of the long lab benches to review the
material again before the others arrived, but it was only a short moment before
Richards and Imril entered the lab together.
He smiled and gestured for them to have a seat on either side of the bench.
Morgan: Good to see you both. I prepared a summation of where I think we are so far ::handing them both PADDs as they got seated:: but I’d like for you to bring me up to speed. From the initial readings, it looks to me like the samples you recovered aren’t anything extraordinary – blood, tissue – but do you have reason to believe there were some kind of experiments or research happening?
Richards/Imril: Response
Morgan: And you found an interesting rock?
Kyle’s eyebrow raised inquisitively as he looked at Richards.
Richards/Imril: Response
Morgan nodded slightly. He was a researcher only in as far as medicine required him to be, but it seemed like between the three of them, they were the best mix of officers to shed some light on what all this might mean.
Morgan: I asked Vahljeahn to join us… He was one of the injured we treated who is an aide or something to the leader of the Yurum. He wasn’t very forthcoming and pretty cryptic, but of the ones we’ve interacted so far, I’m hoping he’ll be able to help us. Still, I think we should be cautious about exactly what information we give him access to. I still don’t trust their motives.
Richards/Imril: Response
He held up the PADD.
Morgan: Do we want to start with the samples and your observations, or
try to figure out if the rock is something interesting or… just a rock?
Richards/Imril: Response
The doors to the lab opened, revealing the Boraxian he’d met earlier in the cargo bay-turned triage center.
Morgan: Vahljeahn. Come in. I trust you had a chance to go over the information I shared?
Vahljeahn: Response
Tag, or TBC!
