((Sickbay, USS Artemis-A))
Genkos almost winced - he’d made a joke about mothers, and Solas had reminded him that the hybrid’s mother was Vulcan. Ouch. It could be hard enough with a Betazoid for a mother, but he had to admit, having a Vulcan must have been harder. Instead he changed the subject.
Adea: But in all seriousness, Solas - don’t beat yourself up. We were all put in impossible situations over the Borg incident, and we all dealt with it the best we could. You did well, and don’t forget it.
Solas let his eyes fall to the floor.
Kel: Yeah….yeah I know. It’s just…. I shot myself in the leg.
Gnaxac nodded, and tapped at a few buttons on the biobed, recording more data.
Adea: Understandable - it’s the cliche to end all cliches.
Solas shifted uncomfortably and picked up his crutch. It appeared he was more interested in fiddling with the loose padding on the handle than he was making eye contact with his doctor. Perfectly empathetic thing to do in the circumstances.
Kel: I don’t know if I’ll be able to get past that until it’s healed you know, sir? I tried going down to the Holodeck and practising shooting but that didn’t help. I didn’t miss, I got a rebound. I just wanna do something.
Solas sighed and let his head rest on the crutch.
Kel: Will I need to get a note from the counselor or can we officially diagnose me as a workaholic?
Genkos let out a small exhalation from his nose - a slight show of subtle amusement at Solas’ admission.
Adea: Well, I can’t diagnose you officially - but I do recommend scheduling an appointment with one of our counsellors. Getting over the mental hurdles of an injury can be just as hard as the physical pain. ::he gestured to his own cane:: Take it from an expert.
Solas nodded, letting his hand gently fall to his side so he could rub his leg a little.
Kel: Are there any exercises I could be doing? Or is it too soon for that?
Genkos frowned for a moment, looking at the feedback on the biobed’s readings.
Adea: I’ll admit, I’m not an expert in that field, but I think trying to go without the crutch, even for a half an hour a day, would be a good start.
Kel: Response
Genkos looked down his long nose at the man on his biobed.
Adea: Make your next appointment with Kafkazet, and I’m sure our physiotherapist would prescribe some exercises for you.
Kel: Response

"You know, I'm really easy to get along with most of the time, but I don't like bullies and I don't like threats, and I don't like you, Culluh. You can try and stop us from getting to the truth but I promise you that if you do I will respond with all the 'unique technologies' at my command." - Kathryn Janeway
