Genkos pushed a curl of hair behind his ear, looking at the Mizarian with concerned eyes. He had read brief reports of her time on the Kitty Hawk, but he was sure they didn’t do justice to what she had experienced.
Adea: I wanted to touch base with you, the Frontier Day disaster was… well… a disaster, and I wanted to make sure you were feeling okay. As okay as you can, anyway.
Sadar: ... C-Comparatively, I’m fine... Th-There’s certainly those among the crew who had it tougher than I. ::sighs:: I-I’m sorry I wasn’t here to help. N-Not that I think I could’ve made a difference, but- ::clams up::
Genkos pushed the second mug on his desk towards her, alongside a plate of small ginger biscuits. He took one himself, and gestured to the seat with it.
Adea: Please sit down, have a drink, a biscuit. And no need to apologise - the Four had you where they needed you.
Gila nodded slowly, and took a seat.
Sadar: What is Lt. Commander Hopper’s prognosis? I know her crew is waiting anxiously for the go-ahead back to the Delta Quadrant.
Adea: The procedure was a success, it’s all recovery now. As soon as she’s awake, I can authorise her transfer back to her ship. I will need to discuss her treatment with my counterpart on Amity.
Sadar: I see…
There was a pause as Gila seemed to struggle with something. Genkos knew her well enough to know that pushing it was the wrong way to go - if Gila was going to tell him something, the best way to encourage it was to let her say it in her own time.
Sadar: S-Sir, I, uhh... I realize that the Artemis was hit hard during Frontier Day, but the data from Earth and Earth Spacedock isn’t... They aren’t promising, and they’re looking for volunteers to assist in the most damaged areas, establishing triage centers, overseeing trauma surgeries, managing casualty lists… ::pause:: I’m a Crisis Care Specialist, and uhh, probably more useful there than I’d be here. ::pause:: I r-r-request your permission to sign myself up.
Genkos put down his biscuit, and interlaced his hands across his stomach as he considered her request. For a moment, he was tempted to have a mock go at her, to pretend to berate her for abandoning her crew in their time of need. But he knew that the joke wouldn’t have gone well for either of them. The last thing he wanted was a talk with whatever was left of Starfleet HR. So instead he smiled warmly.
Adea: Of course. I would be worried if you hadn’t volunteered.
Sadar: Response
Adea: Have you been to Earth before?
