(( Rooftop Gazebo - Ana Kersna, Rylor ))
As far as planetside outings went, Tamio felt quite comfortable at the Starflirt Soirrée hosted by Nadevia. They’d attended the odd Starflirt event before - they always got invited, and rarely had cause to decline - but as much as they were Starfleet through-and-through, even they had to admit that the locale for this particular soirrée shot every single hologram setting out of the water.
The event had started though, and as such, Tamio couldn’t spend too long admiring the way the Rylorian sunset played in the waves of the nearby ocean. Instead, they turned to their first conversation partner, with no small amount of amusement on their face.
K’Wara: Vitor Silveira, I presume? ::eyes outfit:: You dress up nicely. Teal is a nice color for you.
Silveira: Actually it's light blue. But let me appraise you on your own outfit, you also look very good. I see my reputation precedes me… Lieutenant K’Wara.
oO Ah, he’s colorblind. Too bad. Oo
Though he at least had eyes.
K’Wara: I’ve heard much, most of it quite interesting. ::smiles:: Let me guess; you forgot to alter the details on your profile after you and Jovenan got together?
Silveira: Guilty as charged. I was almost dragged to this event.
The fact that Tamio could very vividly imagine the very conversation that would have passed between Nadevia and Vitor to prompt this series of events made them want to chuckle. Their hostess was nothing if not predictable, and she usually got what she wanted in some form or another.
K’Wara: Yes, Miss Virtavi-Yaros can be quite... Persuasive. oO And persistent Oo ::chuckles:: Well, no need to fret about it. It’s just polite conversation, after all, and frankly, it was high time we chatted.
To Vitor’s credit, he didn’t seem very perturbed about his presence at a speed-dating event - as, yes, that was very much what this event and every other event like it was intended to mimic - and just leaned back in his chair.
Silveira: Oh yes, the good thing about this is that we are finally able to properly meet. And please, call me Sil or Vitor, we are on shore leave after all. How are you finding your time on the Artemis?
Tamio agreed with themself that they quite liked Jovenan’s boyfriend.
K’Wara: All right, Sil. And feel free to call me Tamio as well.
A waiter walked around to serve drinks, and Tamio picked one up with a trained motion, sipping the sparkling liquid with a relaxed manner. They tried to hide their smirk when they saw Vitor not enjoy the bitter champagne.
K’Wara: It’s nice. I’d heard that Captain MacKenzie ran a tight ship, and I was amused to find that I think those rumours might in fact be underselling the fact. ::rests their chin in one open palm:: And the quality of her crew reflects it, I’d wager.
Vitor didn’t seem to disagree.
Silveira: It’s one of the best ships and crew I ever served with, no question about it. I am glad that you are part of the family. ::Vitor leaned forward waving his finger in the air:: And how did you get into this? Did Virtavi-Yaros “recruited” you?
Tamio chuckled slightly.
K’Wara: Oh, I’m here quite willingly. I’ve had a Starflirt profile for years at this point. These soirrées of Nadevia’s ::indicates the general crowd:: is usually a decent mix of new Flirters and experienced ones, and I happen to fit in the latter category.
They took another sip of the sparkles as their felinoid eyes drifted slightly, their silver Cats’ Eye make-up glimmering in the ambient lighting, and they had to hide a slight smirk when they noticed Natasha trying her best to hide at a nearby table. Then, they refocused.
K’Wara: And you? Pardon me for generalizing, but you don’t strike me as the ‘dating platform’ kind of guy.
Silveira: Believe it or not it was a mistake… Well it started as a joke, when I set up my profile, but honestly it turned out to be a mistake. ::he tipped his head sideways:: Admittedly done worse because I haven’t updated it. I think that in my profile I am still serving on the Excalibur...
K’Wara: ::quiet whistle:: That’s a while ago. Well, fret not; I’ll let you wine and dine me with zero strings attached, and then you can get that mistake all fixed up once Nadevia releases you from your bonds.
They wiggled their eyebrows at Vitor, humor evident in their expression as they, through the corner of their eye, noticed Nadevia heading for Natasha's table.
Silveira: Response
K’Wara: ::nods sagely:: I’m a generous person, this much is true. ::smirks:: Though I would be remiss to not mention the fact that I no doubt owe your girlfriend my life three times over, so it's in my best interest to behave.
Tamio didn’t much relish thinking about their time on Callis I - at least unless it was to heavily emphasize how miraculous the crew’s reactivation of the Karnack was - but that week in the waterfall cave remained fresh in their memory. It was still a wonder any of them had gotten through that with their sanity intact, and no small amount of that had no doubt been thanks to Jovenan.
Silveira: Response
K’Wara: I did, actually. She was kind enough to make me do 20 Questions with her while also giving me a sensor analysis exam in the sensor pod. ::wry smirk:: Felt like being back at the PHYS101 exam at the Academy.
It was no mystery how Jovenan had managed to earn the confidence of Addison MacKenzie. They were both alarmingly hard on new hires.
