The days weren’t particularly easy yet, but the small moments of joy with her kids made every sleepless night feel worth it.
Talos hadn’t been around much, his responsibilities to the Sixth House took him away far more often than Sam planned on. But the visits from friends, the help of her brother and the endless support she felt from the crew made things manageable.
As she sat down on the floor with both babies laying in front of her, she watched them with a smile. Leera would kick at Aven until it made him cry, then she would stare at him like she was shocked he would even have the audacity to react that way. The interaction made Sam laugh every time.
Just as she was coming down from a particularly hilarious “fight” between the twins, the door chimed.
Richards: ::To the babies:: Looks like we have some company. ::To the door:: Come in!
The friendly face that entered made Sam jump up with a smile.
Cole: Hi, I hope I’m not interrupting nap time?
Richards: Nah. Not at all. They were actually just picking on each other. Still brand new and already making each other cry.
Sam gestured to the couch for Nat to take a seat.
Cole: I brought presents for the babies.
Nat held out the two stuffed animals with a grin. Sam smiled and took the stuffed toys, setting them near the babies.
Richards: That is really sweet. Thank you.
Cole: Yours, though… I’ll need to borrow your replicator for that one.
With a curious eye, Sam gestured to the replicator.
Richards: It’s right over there. Help yourself.
Aven decided laying on the floor time was over and began to let out small helpless cries. Sam scooped both of them up and began to slowly rock back and forth, shifting her weight between her left foot and then the right.
Cole: Response
Richards: Oh yeah, they seem to be adjusting well. As for me… I’m figuring things out as I go.
Cole: Response
While still rocking the two back and forth, Sam peered over to the replicator.
Richards: So… What is it?
Cole: Response
