(( Operations Center, Deck 5 - USS Artemis-A ))

Meris was working with Lieutenant Bergmen in the Operations Center to create a new placard for the wall beside their door. The original placard had denoted their title as Helmsman - a title that, while technically accurate, could be interpreted by some in their culture as offensive due to its gendered nature.

Meris: Thank you, Lieutenant Bergmen. I appreciate your willingness to be so... accommodating.

The lieutenant's face lit up at Meris' words.

Bergmen: I’m just glad I could help. Let me say - I’m sorry - once again, for the fact that it was needed in the first place.

With a beep, the engraving machine announced the final phase of the process. As the timer hit zero, the workspace cover lifted, revealing the finished placard. Meris watched as Bergmen inspected the nameplate from different angles, a smile spreading across his face as he confirmed that it was absolutely perfect.

Bergmen: And now we can place it where it truly belongs. ::smiles::

Meris: You know, Lieutenant, you don't need to trouble yourself with helping me to install it. You've done so much already. I can take it from here. You should be enjoying your shore leave.

The lieutenant shrugged and smiled, then extended his hand with the nameplate in it.

Bergmen: Here it is. ::smiles as Meris takes it:: And... if you just wait...

Bergmen turned to the wall and opened a cabinet. The lieutenant took a case, placed it on a nearby table, opened it, and began to take out individual plates and tools.

Bergmen: Yes, this... ::handing a magnaspanner to Meris:: ...you will need this to change the plate, you know.

Meris: Ah, yes. Thank you, Lieutenant.

Bergmen: ::smiling:: Don't worry about that, Ensign. Just deconstruct the tool and the old placard in the replicator in your quarters. And... if you need anything further in the future... or just chitchat... you have a number. ::points to his combadge::

Meris: ::slight smile:: Thank you, Lieutenant. I'll try not to bother you too frequently.

Ollie nodded and then accompanied the ensign out of the Operations Center. When they stepped out, Ollie went in one direction, waving goodbye, and Meris watched him go, waving back. As he went, their eyes slid down his back - from his tousled brown hair to his pert little derrière. Soon, it vanished around a corner.

oO He has a cute tushie. Oo

The J’naii officer then turned in the opposite direction and made for the nearest turbolift.

(( End scene for Meris ))
