(( Deck 7, USS Artemis-A ))

Munro: Ava Munro, your new XO. Where did you learn to keep pace like that? The Academy?

The junior doctor who'd been doing well to match the aggressive pace she'd set for her run through the ship, almost tripped up as he realised that she was the new XO of the Artemis.

At times it still felt like a surprise to her.

Bancroft: ::deadpan, dying inside:: Ah, of course, you're the new XO. That tracks. ::beat:: Well, in that case, let me just formally apologize for my entire conversational strategy thus far, ma’am. ::pushing his own pace to keep up:: For better or worse, I seem to never know when to stop digging deeper.

Ava shook her head playfully, she intended to take MacKenzie’s advice seriously about a balance. At this moment in time she is off duty and on a run. Of course, it was only polite to let the doctor know who she was, to avoid any uncomfortableness. But she was determined to keep that balance.

Bancroft: But yes. Academy. Plus a few years of stress-fueled jogging after that. Amazing what a little internalized pressure can do for your VO2 max.

They rounded another bend, and they whizzed passed a repair crew at a breakneck speed and Ava thought maybe she had pushed it a little too hard this time.

She began to maintain the pace as the corridor ahead stretched onwards blessedly free of any damage.

Bancroft: ::wryly:: This is my first posting. Do all command officers haze their med staff with sprints, or is this just the deluxe welcome package?

Munro: It's the special Munro brand. It's that or a shot of whisky.

As they approached the end of the corridor, Ava slowed down gradually.

Bancroft: Response

She came to a stop, and began to do her cool down stretches which gave her a chance to take better stock of the doctor. Tall in stature, with a thickened mustache across his top lip.

Munro: I ran on the track team at the Academy. I won a few medals, if it wasn't for that the only thing I’d have been remembered for was winning the hula dance competition at The Launching Pad :: winces :: Not my finest moment but I've still got the trophy - it's shaped like a bottle of rum. I never could figure out why they just didn't give me an actual bottle of rum. :: competitive :: So, what was your final time on the Academy track?

Ava was keen to know if he had beaten her academy time, she was on that leaderboard for quite some time but she hadn't checked in years.

Bancroft: Response

Ava looked at the chrono device on her wrist that was linked to the ship's computer which had been tracking her time and pace.

Munro: Impressive. I haven't established my Artemis time yet. Once the ship is repaired I'll have a better idea :: playful :: I wonder how you'll measure up? If you can, that is?

Bancroft: Response
