((Ensign Kel’s Quarters - Compartment 11, Sector 3, Deck 5, USS Artemis-A))
Solas was sitting by the window, starting out into the vastness of space, the events of the last twenty-four hours playing back in his head like an old transmission on repeat. When the door chime rang, he answered almost immediately.
Kel: Enter.
Lieutenant Sadar stood just outside, but had hardly taken a step past over the threshold before she began stammering.
Sadar: E-Ensign Kel. I, uhh... I’m here to check in with you. W-We’re approaching the designated interval for your first counseling appointment, and since the counselor will be a stranger, we’re attempting to, uhh... ‘Bridge’ the divide?
Counseling? Ah right, counseling. He had been given a memo about that after waking up somewhere outside of sickbay, the voice of the collective no longer ringing in his brain.
Kel: Who will my counselor be?
Sadar: I’m not sure yet... Some of the larger Ships are being kind enough to dispatch personnel to reinforce our counseling department so we can render appropriate aid to all our crew, but the logistical side of things haven’t been finalized yet… If it would help to know their name, I’ll attempt to get the information to you prior to your appointment.
He wondered for a moment if that would actually make a difference. Would it matter if he did or didn’t know his counselors name prior to their first meeting. He decided that it did not.
Kel: You can, if you’d like. However, all I need is the time and date, sir.
Something about his answer seemed to unnerve Lieutenant Sadar, so he returned his attention to the vastness of space. So many thoughts were swirling through his head now, though he took solace in the fact that they were at least, all his thoughts.
Kel: Lieutenant, I have a question I’d like to ask you. If you will allow it. It is not something I think someone from another ship can answer. But I’m also afraid….that they won’t tell me.
Sadar: Response.
Solas kept his eyes locked on the void. When he spoke, he made sure his every word was slow and deliberate. He didn’t want to risk that she might misunderstood what he was asking, though he wasn’t sure how that might happen.
Kel: Is there a way to know…if I killed anyone?
There was a moment of silence before the lieutenant replied.
Sadar: Response
Solas closed his eyes and let out a sharp breath through his nose before reaching up to pinch the ridges along his nose. Turning around and sitting on the closest surface he could find before resting his head in his hands.
Kel: I see….thank you for letting me know, Lieutenant.
Sadar: Response
