to USS Artemis-A – StarBase 118 Star Trek PBEM RPG
((The Sadar-Aqila Quarters - Compartment 83, Sector 03, Deck 6, USS Artemis-A ))
Vitor turned to Sada, offering her a warm smile, but still holding Nan’s hands.
Sadar: Y-Yes Sir! ::clears throat:: Today, the colloquy to establish the successful union of Lieutenant Commander Jovenan of the Science Department of the USS Artemis-A and Lieutenant Vitor Silveira of the Tactical Department of the USS Artemis-A will be observed. I sit here today as a friend of Vitor Silveira, and a loyal subordinate ::uncomfortable clearing of throat:: a-a-and... F-Friend, of Lieutenant Commander Jovenan.
Vitor was surprised by the formality of Sada’s words. It felt so… Formal…
Redundancy aside, Sada’s first words were so serious that he wondered how Nan would react. He knew that they were still on the honeymoon stage of their relationship.
They just started dating.
The troubles would come as their relationship grew.
Still he felt energised, as he gently rubbed Nan’s hands with his fingers. He loved her, more than anything. And she loved him back.
Together they could face… Anything.
Silveira: I am honored to have you, Gila Sadar, as a friend.
Jovenan: I, too, consider you a friend.
He waited for Sada to speak again, and she addressed him.
Sadar: Sil-net, in the truest words in your heart, what do you hope for from the future?
Vitor replied quickly, almost in the next second that Sada finished her question.
Silveira: I hope to be able to protect, help and love Jovenan.
Sada had asked him to be genuine and honest and he was. He let his heart speak and didn't think too much over it.
Sadar: Do you believe that the coupling with Lieutenant Commander Jovenan will be conducive to bringing you happiness and satisfaction of your goals?
Silveira: Yes I do
Again he replied quickly, with a smile, as the portuguese expression goes, “from ear to ear”.
That actually surprised him because his reply would sound more appropriate to a wedding than a… Friendly ritual…
It felt… Good. Scaringly good. They had barely started dating, it was really early for them to commit to something so… Serious, so formal.
But it felt so right, so good. It was as if the stars were aligning.
Sada turned her attention to Nan, before speaking again.
Sadar: Lieutenant Commander, you have heard the truest words of Sil-net, a friend of mine whom I hold very dear. Assure me, p-please, with no uncertainty or cloud, that it is your intent to honor and defend his goals, as though they were your own.
She spoke to Sada but, with barely a faint of a smile on her lips at first, she looked at him while she spoke.
Jovenan: I’m not sure if I can assure you that I can defend his goal to protect, help and love me. I have placed myself in danger to protect what I’ve promised to defend, and considered the sacrifice of my own life in exchange for others’, and bound by my duty, I will do so again if I must. And a-after so long of thinking I’m… I’m unlovable, I can’t assure you that I can retain what he loves of me forever, because I don’t fully understand the source of it. But I want to do all those things. I want to come back to him after a mission without having to ever think if he would cry for me if I didn’t. I want to feel his embrace when carries me away when my strength has failed me, like on that one day. And I want to hold him, to kiss him, to feel his love for as many days our relationship and our lives permit us.
Nan then turned her look back to Sada, who nodded at her. Vitor smiled, she had so eloquently put her thoughts and feelings in words.
Jovenan: And I want to promise the same to him. The most in my life, I want to protect and help and love him. I don’t seek even scientific understanding more than that, I don’t want command nor fame nor prestige. I want to be his strength if he ever lacks it, I want to support him and embrace him when he needs it. That goes beyond our relationship, it won’t change. And I want to love him for as long as I only can. I do.
Vitor held Nan's hands tightly, as he looked at her. He wasn’t taking Nan or her love for granted, but her reply showered him with a wave of love and happiness that he wasn’t expecting. He wanted to stand up and hold her, take her in his arms, but he also wanted to respect his friend's tradition.
Silveira: That’s… Is there more my friend?
Sadar: W-Well, usually, this is the point where Lt. Commander Jovenan’s friends and family ask the same questions of you, but I think the Lt. Commander got ahead of me on that.
Sada smiled at Nan and Vitor nodded and smiled looking at his love.
Silveira: Well, I am going to take a risk and say we are a good match… What do you think Sada?
She looked uncomfortable, as she shuffled slightly in her seat.
Sadar: I... I don’t know. F-Forgive me, my friends, but I don’t have much experience conducting the ceremony for aliens. ::considers:: H-H-However, i-if you’ll allow me a moment of candour, as a friend? ::wrings her hands under the table:: Mizarians are less emotional than most aliens, and as such, our evaluations aren’t meant to test emotional attachment, but to test whether lifestyles are compatible. I have no doubt that the both of you will protect and support each other, but I ask you to not forget yourselves or your personal goals, whether they be career-oriented or otherwise. A relationship is made up of two individuals, and no amount of love or affection can replace your individuality.
Vitor agreed with Sada’s words, and he had to admit he lacked the eloquence of either of them. As he usually did, he spoke from the heart.
Nan dropped her gaze and nodded, looking back at him.
He smiled and wink at them. Gently squeezed Nan’s hands, before letting them go and standing up.
Silveira: Then my friend, since we are in your quarters, will allow me a display of affection and let me kiss my girlfriend. ::He looked at Nan’s sparkling eyes.:: My love?
Nan looked at Sada, almost apologetically. Vitor realized he could have resisted asking that, as Sada slowly shook her head, standing from her seat.
Sadar: O-Of course. I-I’ll, uhh, I’ll fetch the next dish then.
With that, Nan turned back to him, she lifted herself slightly and he met her half way.
A soft kiss, as to seal the ritual. Nan lingered there a second longer and he smiled as he lost herself in her emerald glowing eyes and her beautiful wide smile.
And her ever so cute nose.
Jovenan: Love you.
Silveira: Love you.
Sada rejoined them, placing the tray, the wine bottle and the water decanter onto the table.
Nan sat down back as did Vitor
Jovenan: Thank you for officiating that, Doctor, it was lovely. I hope you weren’t forced to change the procedure too much for us.
Sadar: N-Not at all. Th-Though, I dare say, the two of you would make poor Mizarians. ::slight smile:: Too emotionally invested.
Vitor nodded and laughed, Sada couldn’t be more right.
Silveira: I will take that as a compliment, my friend.
Jovenan: Again, sorry for not telling you at some other occasion. ::looks at her soup:: You probably had a lovely dinner date planned for all of us even without this twist.
Sadar: As an apology, please remain my guests until the end of dinner. ::slight frown:: I’ve an, uhh, ‘vested interest’ in seeing this through.
Silveira: But of course, I mean… ::Vitor began to fully understand Sada’s words:: Wait… What do you mean?
Jovenan: Response
Sadar: Mmh... Some counselors on the Artemis-A have an odd way of counseling?
Vitor raised an eyebrow. So Sada was sort of… Experimenting? Or was this a kind of… Therapy? Well, in an odd way it… Could make sense…
Silveira: Depends on the Counselor.
Jovenan: Response
Sadar: Lt. Commander Jashkaa. Thus far, she’s had me get a phaser recertification, and now, a dinner party... ::sheepish smile:: Suppose she’s trying to cure me of one anxiety source at a time?
Vitor smiled and nodded. He had a session with Jashkaa as well and that tracked.
Silveira: Phaser certification? ::He winked.:: Well at least I hope we haven’t embarrassed you much.
Sadar/Jovenan: Response
Vitor tipped his head with his mischievous grin.
Silveira: Do we have to write a report to Jashkaa? So far I will give you a straight A.
Sadar/Jovenan: Response
Vitor laughed and reached Nan's hand, giving her a gentle squeeze.
Silveira: Then we must progress with this “active counseling session”. What’s the next dish?
Sadar/Jovenan: Response
