(( Elysium Mezzanine, USS Artemis-A ))

Genkos saw the waiter was approaching with his next drink, and he took it from them, a smile given back in thanks. Briefly raising it in Bergmen’s direction, he took a sip as he considered his response to the question. What was the lower deck obsession with knowing about “the next mission”? He’d experienced it on every ship he’d served on, and he’d never found a satisfactory way to phrase “we won’t know until we know”.

Adea: I’m not certain - I believe there’s a few supply runs we might need to help out with, but other than that, I couldn’t say.

The ensign raised a curious eyebrow.

Bergmen: Couldn’t or won’t?

Genkos frowned slightly - he was a man who said what he meant and meant what he said, and not normally someone who couched things in euphemisms.

Adea: We are a reactive vessel - we respond to problems. We’re not like some of the other vessels in the fleet who go out and explore, we’re very much rooted here in the Borderlands.

Bergmen: Ok. ::he shrugged:: So, one more thing I’m curious about - what are the usual senior duties during shore leave? Is there any officer you would recommend for a mentoring session?

Genkos paused for a moment, his hand resting lightly on his chin as he considered his response. He had a feeling that whoever he mentioned was about to get a visit from the Ensign in front of him.

Adea: Senior duties? Well the usual - PADDwork, restocking and stocktaking equipment and resources, that sort of thing. We’re about to do a major recalibration of all the biobeds in sickbay. As for mentorship, you should ask that of your head of department - I’m sure they’d have some ideas.

Ollie conjured a marker from his trousers and began to write on his forearm. The good doctor hoped sending Bergmen to the famously ill-tempered Glim Vel wouldn’t backfire.

Bergmen: And… What would you recommend to do in the meantime for my shore leave down on the station? I was never on Starbase 224, so I do not know much about local possibilities for the entertainment except what is recommended in the Starfleet travel guide.

Here was a subject that Genkos was much more well-versed in. He leaned forward, in order to seem more engaged.

Adea: Well the arboretum on 224 is stunning, a brilliant place to visit. I can highly recommend that. Then of course the promenade is full of decent shops and eateries. It depends on what you’re interested in.

Bergmen: Response

Adea: If you could do anything to relax, what would it be?

Bergmen: Response

"You know, I'm really easy to get along with most of the time, but I don't like bullies and I don't like threats, and I don't like you, Culluh. You can try and stop us from getting to the truth but I promise you that if you do I will respond with all the 'unique technologies' at my command." - Kathryn Janeway
