Passing through the arch Vitor joined Jas as he looked at the headstones.
The way Jas had described them didn't do them justice. It was clear he had put a lot of thought and work on them.
And again Vitor felt he put something more.
Silveira: They're beautiful.
Chevalier: I know, Vitor. Both are Jovenan, the tree who grew in our hearts, rooted in our souls...
Both options looked astonishing, but the one on the right, the most simple one with the smaller tree, caught Vitor's attention.
Silveira: Your description didn't do them justice.
Chevalier: I know. They...they came to me. They were just there... to grasp them and materialize them. But... Only one is your own, your embodiment of your feelings and your love. Your reconciliation with her, your way to come to terms with the tragedy that cut the thread of your future. Which one is it? Which one did you choose?
Silveira: I like the simpler one. :: Vitor pointed to it.:: I mean, I like them both, but that one is my favourite.
Jas rested his hand on Vitor’s shoulder as he nodded and smiled.
He deleted the more elaborate one.
Chevalier: It's good choice. She would love it too. So, then the last question we need to face. Do you want something to change? Something to add or remove? Or can we proceed forward?
Vitor pointed to the letters.
Silveira: Just put in full caps her name and the word Saudade. It's the only change in your work. ::Then he pointed to the little tree branch.:: I will have the jewel hanging there. It will be the perfect spot.
Jas nodded again.
Chevalier: Good. We have it. This is it. Thank you, Vitor. The stone will be ready in the morning the day after tomorrow. I will make it a priority to be replicated, but some details I will want to engrave by hand.
Jas sighed, as he let go of Vitor's shoulder.
Chevalier: So, if you excuse me, Vitor, I will start now. Thank you for your input, ideas, and availability. Wait, just one thing, where should we deliver a tombstone?
Silveira: The Arboretum, there is an Oak tree, the staff there knows where I want it.
Chevalier: Perfect. No problem delivering it there. So the morning after tomorrow, it will be there...
Vitor nodded to Jas before leaving.
Out in the corridor he took a deep breath. It was beautiful and very different from what he originally envisioned. He was thankful that Jas agreed to it.
And in a way he was beginning to make his peace
