((Shrine of the Blessed Exchequer, Shore of Kentar Sea, Ferenginar))

Ava had begun the ascent of the ancient steps, minding for slippage and the uneven steps. The good doctor followed closely behind her.

Munro: Watch your step :: take the next step upwards :: You ever been to one of the sites on Bajor? My last commission, the ship :: takes another step :: visited B’hala to help with some missing archaeologists. Just before I joined :: another step :: I missed out by days.

Jaran: ::speaking while steadily moving upward:: You know, I never made it to B'hala, but I did get a chance to handle a fragment of the Tablet of Reckoning from there. Touching such powerful history like that…

Ava noticed that Jira stopped to look closely at some cravings.

Munro: What you found?

She moved closer to them. They pointed out a repeating motif.

Jaran: Commander, take a look at this. ::gestures at a squared off, obling symbol::  I've been noticing this symbol repeating, but I haven't been able to guess at it. It has a place of prominence, but usually something like the symbol of a deity or powerful figure would be there. For example, on Bajor, you would see the symbol for the Celestial Temple with this place of honour. Historically, that usually looked like a representation on the sun, and sun imagery is pretty common in a lot of proto-religions. But this doesn't look anything like a sun or anything I can recognise. Thoughts?

Ava observed the motif, it was an unusual oblong shape with several strikes rising from it.

Munro: Maybe something to do with latinum?

Ava blushed a little as she realised that she knew very little about Ferengi culture outside their love of Commerce and specifically Latinum.

Jaran: Interesting. I guess that could be the case. It would certainly be... unusual. Perhaps we'll find some more examples and see if we can fit together the pieces.

Jira then began his ascent as Ava hung back to look closer at the motif, determined to take a mental snapshot and think outside of her preconceptions.

Ava, for fear she lose them, hurried up the steps.

As she neared Jira she noticed that they took a step too fast and then fell backwards. Ava quickly pushed her legs forward and gently shoved against Jira to redirect the fall.

They didn't fall downwards, which would have resulted in serious injury. But they still fell, just more across the steps.

Munro: Are you okay?

Ava's hand hoovered over her commbadge as she done a visual survey of them.

Jaran: Response

She breathed a sigh of relief. If they could speak then that was something.

Munro: We can beam back to the ship? Are you in pain?

Jaran: Response

Ava sidled up next to the doctor and took a closer look.

Munro: Nothing looks like it's bleeding :: looks a bit closer :: How's your hip, it looked like it took the brunt of the fall?
