((DS224, docking bay))
Seeing Sil had been enough of a surprise. But finding out that he was going to be her boss? It was both wonderful and problematic. It was wonderful because he knew her and her history. It was problematic for the same reason. He knew where she had been, what she had been through. His situation was similar, it wasn’t that he simply knew or could mentally ascent to what she’d been through. He had lived through a much similar situation and fully comprehended how it felt, how it was hard to leave your past behind and walk into a new life. He was just a few years further along in what she hoped would be her healing process.
Storm: You….::she pointed at him:: You, are my ::The same hand repositioned itself to her chest.:: chief?
Alex's eyes shifted between him and the Artemis behind him.
He nodded slowly, hoping that wouldn’t be a problem. Opening his arms he started speaking.
Silveira: Vitor Stone Silveira, Lieutenant, serial number SV - 783 - 184, Chief Tactical Officer, NCC-81287 USS Artemis-A. I hope that isn’t a problem?
Storm: Oh no. ::Alex shook her head briefly, cast a lop-sided grin, and lowered her eyebrows.:: I don’t mind at all. It's one less person to have to acclimate to.
The ice was broken. At least it wasn’t jagged.
Silveira: Good. I am glad to hear that.
Storm: I don’t think I could have gotten better news on my arrival, Vitor. ::Alex repositioned her duffel on her shoulder.:: So you decided to come find me, since I’m a part of your department, or because you were curious about how I turned out?
Silveira: If I lied and said both would you be okay with it?
She cast him a knowing grin.
Storm: You can’t lie to me. ::Alex shook her head and chuckled.:: Well, you can….but I’d know. ::Her mouth quirked to one side.::
She watched as he gestured to their ship.
Silveira: I came because we are… Friends. And I wanted you to feel welcome. The last time we met…
Storm: Yep…The last time we met, I was digging my heels in. I did that a lot, didn’t I? Until I couldn’t any more. I appreciate the gesture of friendship. You were trying to be the voice of reason. Maybe if I had listened sooner…
Silveira: Look at one point we were all very close, and even with what life had thrown at us… I still hold you, Kona and Cassie in my heart.
At the name of her husband and child, Alex’s lips spread into a thin line. She took a deep breath, and ner nostrils flared as she fought to control the overwhelming emotions she felt. When Alex could finally speak, her first few words were as staccato and off-key as music played on an old harpsichord.
Storm: I’m going to find them, Vitor. Not because I want to make Kona pay, but because I need to see my daughter. ::She paused unsure if she should continue, but opening her mind up to sense how he was feeling, she said softly.:: I’d think if anyone could understand that, it would be you.
Silveira: Response
Alex went back to grasping the strap of her duffel with both hands, but at Sil’s question, she shook her head.
Storm: No. I won’t let this become a problem. I can’t. ::Alex rolled her black eyes and shook her head. Almost as easily cast off the thought like it were an old garment.:: I’ll be seeing one of the counselors on board. I’m sure he or she will help me continue to process through everything.
Silveira: Response
Her words softened. Her eyes looked almost leaky
Alex: I know it’s been two years, but … it still hurts, ya know?
Silveira: Response
